    Dave and 5150

What songs on 5150 did dave write and what did sammy write?

I think Dave had more to do with 5150 than anyone will ever acknowledge...but regardless of his input, as already stated in this thread...it has been Hagarized.

Hagar even hagarized daves own songs in the bullshit album right here right now.

I think it's common knowledge that 5150 had a part of Van Hagar's 5150. It's been so long since I've talked about it...I've forgot the specifics of it...and could care a less at this point.

Let me spell it out for you. Anything that Yentl sings suck dick. I don't care if he rolls out a Led Zeppelin tune with Page, Jones and a reborn Bonham...sucks dick...

I don't care if he rolls out duck, duck, goose....sucks dick...

he does what Yentl does best...sucks dick...

so this is a fucking moot point...

Considering Dave never wrote any music for VH, none of it is Dave. They're Sam's lyrics, I am sure he didn't hear any of the demos Dave did for the album, if they even exist.

Maybe not actually writing any MUSIC, as in riffs and what not.

But I sure as hell think that Dave had a hand in the ARRANGING of song structures and so forth.

Anyone with a good musical knowledge can say whether it be better to have a solo here or there and maybe a bridge here or break in tempo, etc.

Because you can hear the difference in the Dave songs vs the Sammy songs.

And yeah, what ended up on 5150 are of course Sam's lyrics, but Dave did do some very rough demos for Summer Nights and a few others I think. Whether or not Sam heard Dave's version is anyone's guess. But he'd have to hear the initial music to get his own lyrics down, right?

I didn't say Dave didn't give compositional ideas, there is no doubt he did. All singers do. "Hey change this a little, so I can sing here, blah blah."

I am sure Ed just played the basic tracks he had down for Sam. I doubt he was saying, "Well here's what Dave did." I'm sure he told Sam to do whatever he wanted, and the melodies Sam sings I am sure bare nothing to what Dave would have done, or did. Totally different styles completely. Couldn't have two guys with far more differing styles.

Here's what Dave said in CFTH:
                            EAT US AND SMILE!!!!

Yep, but not for all of the songs Max. Some Ed and Sam wrote together later on. I'm sure it was totally easy to go to those demos, but I bet the melodies and lyrics are not at all what Dave may have demo'd.
