I'm not sure that's Dave's favorite thing to do.
Let's just wait and see. I highly doubt that the suits would invest so much money and time investing in Dave if there weren't some talent and creativity mapped out. Don't you remember all of those old Dave TV things he used to do many miles back on MTV? He was hilarious and we all know that Dave loves to talk. As far as slagging on his work ethic, I respectfully disagree. Dave's done a lot more than The Van Halen's since the '96 fiasco.

Whether they are cover tunes or not (no one ever said a thing about that to Elvis or Sinatra when they put out a "new" album) the man has released more than VH. He's also done The Soppranos, wrote a friggin' book, etc. I just think this is another thing that he wants to add to his already long and impressive life-resume.

An all right move? I don't know, make music...that's what he does best. I liked "DLR Band" and his voice certainly wasn't great on that, so I can certainly live with him not sounding like 1981 Dave. Just because I don't like some of the stuff he's done lately doesn't mean much, a lot of you guys do and you like going to see him play.
    Fair enough.

I just think this is a lame fucking move, it's what every washed up douche does...ala Ted Nugent, Dee Snider. It's like admitting your career is over. What's next, Dave gonna go on that stupid ass VH1 show with those has-beens?

Forget Van Halen, Van Halen is retired and Dave hasn't been a member in 20 years. There are other things in music he can do.
I have to agree with Elvis. Dave's no "Rock Star" anymore. He's nostalgia to the public. Nothing wrong with it but that's just the way it is.

Regardless, I'm a Dave-Sheep so to speak and I dig whatever he chooses to do. Besides, I love hearing him talk and tell stories. I'd also dig it if he wrote another book.

Brett, did you not download the Roth/Boston radio shows that I posted at JTT? He didnt spin records, except a few of his own...

I will say that the week he did in Boston, he often re-hashed the same things he said the day before...it will be a tough gig for him to be fresh every day. But I have faith in him...
Maybe this is what a heroine addict feels like after getting a long awaited fix, shooting up in the corner of some abandoned building and just not giving a fuck about what the rest of the world thinks...TATTOO"

        Radio Dave

I havnt posted here yet cause i have on this subject in other threads on this subject but here is what i've always wrote.

We all have Bills to pay and a steady paying gig for awhile ain't such
a bad deal. Daves got money im shure but 50 is not that old .Another
nest egg is a good idea.
A little cash for a while DJ' n letting his cords rest and mixing it up
a little is a good thing.

This is not the last thing he will do and it frees him up for every other hour of the day.
Dave is a sole proprietorship. Owning your own biz and also doing 80%
of the work yourself for years is HARD.I Know.

Sitting back workin and collecting a check on friday looks pretty good
sometimes instead of spending all weekend doing books and trying
to find work on monday.I Know.

So i dig what hes doing and also know it w]ont be all hes doing.Roth On! My OP

That stint in Boston was stellar. Thanks again for doing that.

I was like a kid at Christmas awaiting every new show. I thought he did an epic job and I think if the powers that be are investing such a slot and deal for him, Dave must have something stellar to offer radio.

The one man show deal has been beaten to death. Shock jocks, political pundits....blah fucking blah.

Dave should bust out a different sidekick every week. Like, bring in Savage one week for a Spike Jones throwback.

Then a Herb Alpert bongo show.

i dont know, i see this as a good thing. you know how many people will be calling/emailing him to talk about a reunion? *hint hint* i know that it takes 4 to tango in CVH, but at the very least, he will tell some good stories whenever VH is brought up. im stuck in the midwest, so unless they decide to syndicate him out here, im fucked. but, i did plan on getting a sirius reciever so i could listen to howard.

The man has a way with words. I remember probably about 20 years ago(damn that's a long time) he was on MTV and they were talking about him vs. Sammy and he made some mention about the new VH may have their fancy Porsches but the real party is going on in the backseat of my Volkswagen. Now that's entertainment.
There are those that do and those that don't. Those that didn't see what those that did had done and wish they had especially when "She looked so F#*kin GOOD"

I am not so sure I can see Dave doing it for years-but then if you consider the possibility of him continuing to "tour" with his current music for years, I don't see that either.

And this attitude here is the one positive thing i see in Dave doing the radio gig.

David has always had so much more to offer the world than the bleach blonde beach bum stage presence...and Dave doing the same show over and over is not what I want to see Dave going out being remembered as doing.
Some of us actually want to see a Classic Van Halen reunion, or some new DLR material, instead of a Van Hagar sham some will endure. Dave's radio gig only takes away any real chance of this.

I don't think Dave's really into making new material. How many albums of fresh material has he released in ten years? One?

That doesn't make me feel good about the possibilities of him putting out albums in the future.

Yeah well, taking a daily radio gig is sort of confirmation that it's over...

I'll listen if he's broadcast here (which I think he will be), but I don't want to deal with the no hope aspect. I've realized for a while nothing will happen most likely, but I didn't want to face up to it.

The biggest thing Van Halen-wise to look forward too is the release of some live material on DVD or disc...

Kind of odd for Dave to get a new drummer and schedule more dates if he knew this was coming. Maybe he can do it all - radio, tour, EMT, whatever!

I sure don't blame him for not waiting around with his finger up his ass waiting for the sisters to grow a brain.
                              Same ole song and dance...

Yeah, I think Dave getting extra exposure can only be a good thing...
Knowing and believing are two very different things.

It is the difference between the knowledge we accrue... ...and the knowledge we apply.
