Dude man i know you might think i'm a newb but i'm hella not. I've been on all the VH shit on the net since like 97-98 at least man. I've been a fan since i was 12 in '96 man i don't need to learn what i've already read a hundred times. I just need some documented stuff that you know that bands like Motley Crue and shit would not exist at the form they were in if it weren't for Van Halen and Eddie's innovation of guitar.

Like how Dave and Templeman wanted I'll Wait, taken off the 1984 album, but Ed fought to keep it. How the song 1984 was originally 30 mins long. Man without joining the Army I would've kept on guessing everything. Look for documented info on Dave's influence on Vince on VH1.com. I remember watching Driven with Motley Crue, and that's where I learned of Tommy Lee's early VH fanatic days.

Yeah I imagine anybody that tries to act like Dave would look fuckin stupid at this point. Dave is the shit. Everybody wants to be him, but everyone also knows they can't even come close to that. you are born with that groove.

Dave was influenced by lots of music and performers in my opinion, like Jim Dandy and Black Arkansas. He liked their show and it was one of my favorite parts of the Early Years DVD when they talked with Dandy and he said how much he liked Dave's show too.

Tyler fell into the "look" of hair bands in my opinion, starting with the "comeback" album, Done With Mirrors.

I also think a lot of the lead singers in those mentioned hair bands were into Dave's attitude, his larger than life persona of being a rock star, his excesses, his brashness.

Every guitar played wanted to play like Eddie.

Every lead singer wanted to be Dave. Look like Dave, talk like him, the women, the charisma, all of it.

Van Halen was influential is all aspects, most of all their music.

Van Halen has been out of the limelight so long, a lot of the kids don't know who they are. Funny, instant recognition when you say David Lee Roth. The fuckin' Elvis of our generation.
