by and large, i like the albums better. i've seen both live. i enjoyed both concerts, but i was definitely more excited for dave solo. i would've preferred a few more solo tunes in the show, but i still thought it was awesome.


but i do generally like van hagar.

van halen with dave is my all-time favorite band. dlr solo and van hagar, i consider to be "other" bands. and i like a lot of other bands, those 2 among them.

would i ever see van hagar live again? i don't know. probably not for this concert. i've already seen ed, al and mike live, and while i like a lot of the van hagar tunes, i'm just not overly excited for a bunch of them played live.

will i see dave solo again? yes. true, it is the tunes i've already heard him play. but i just get more excited for those songs. and the hope of hearing another solo tune or 2 doesn't hurt.

Here's the blasphemy: I hated what I heard of Diamond Dave so I didn't buy it. But it still contains more attitude than any Van Hagar disc

the reason i don't like solo dave as much as i like original van halen is because i'm REALLY a fan of what all of those 4 guys did together.

however, to me, i think solo dave captured a little more of that then van hagar did.

Have you heard Diamond Dave? Not the nickname. The album. Released in 2003. I'll bet you haven't. It's the best Roth solo album yet. There's not a bad tune on it, and Dave's voice is better than ever.

Check out She's Looking Good. Hagar could never in a million years pull that off. There's only one other white guy with a voice like that, Edgar Winter, and he's on the album, too. Hmm. I wonder why? Sam is a great rock singer, but he's no Roth. Sam is certainly not an entertainer. Diamond Dave is the proof that Dave is better than ever. You should buy a copy.

Hey Ford....good to see ya again. I will still be voting for DIO.

I took the liberty of checking every music selling site out there starting with Amazon and working my way up. There seems to be no such band as Van Hagar. They don't exist.

However there is a brilliant four piece outfit called Van Halen that seems to be touring very soon and has put out a number of profitable #1 CD's between 1985-1996.

If a Van Hagar turn up I'll let you know....until then check out the latest pic of this kick ass Van Halen band.

I burned it off my uncle and we got a good laugh at how fucking laughable it is. Youre telling me this is the reason you like Roth over Hagar or that this is the proof. WOW!
