all these press experts putting down DLR, well, I got a lil story to relate to this, from across the pond and our shores(the UK).

I dunno how big it was in the US, but Fawlty Towers is often viewed as one of, if not,the best comedy series ever. When its first series came out, it was panned by a succession of critics, and the show only really took off during its first repeat run.

The show was bound to get bad reviews, anyway...anything that followed Stern was going to get bad reviews just because it was following Stern...and besides, Dave's just getting his footing at this yet, so there are going to be bugs to be worked out and I'm sure it's very far from being a smooth deal yet.

Time will tell. If nothing else, perhaps, if it fails, it'll give David time to do some material...?

Either situation (success or failure of the show) isn't necessarily a bad turn of events for the fans, either way.

As Dave says himself, 'It don't matter if you win or lose, as longs you looked good doing it.'

And I'm hanging on my broadband to get all the rothisms, and any diamond moments from his time on the station. I'm sure Dave's first time gigging wasn't that good, well, it was probably great. But I can see Dave doing a great job.

Excellent analogy! Same with the American show "Cheers". It was panned after the first season. Nobody liked it but the cast and crew. It went on to win how many emmies over how many years?

99.99 percent of critics out there are failures at what they critique or show only the opinions the "powers that be" want them to have.

They have absolutely no worth.

They panned Van Halen because they were contrary to what was popular at the time (Critics dislike anything new that involves testosterone-induced attitude. Note that buggering sheep-herders are acceptable) and Roth's being a Jew didn't help (Why? Who the fuck knows.)

Want to know who's going to succeed out there? Look for the bad reviews.

Guys...take it easy. I see a lot of pretty slanted views here. We all want Dave to do well. I have already proclaimed my allegiance to Howard, so I'll be listening to him, and it's academic because I can't get Dave anyway. BUT, I can say this- I've yet to read a single positive review about Dave's debut. That worries me. I've checked out the downloads and Dave does need to improve a bit. He's new at this, and he'll need some time, but this business of attacking every review that doesn't praise Dave is getting fucking tired.....

Just don't worry about it and enjoy the show.

It doesn't mean you have to be a mindless drone. We support Dave, but let's face it, this may be a failure. Just listen and see what happens. He may improve and be very sucessful in radio. He may fail and go back to making music full time. Either way the fans win.

The days of putting out an album every year and a monster tour that hits every major US city are over.

I'm not quite sure how me finding humor in your comment makes me a mindless drone. It would be alot like someone being on a Hagar site, making the comment "there sure is a lot of Dave bashing going on here". It just struck me as humorous that's all. I guess I could have been a real bitch and have no respect for what you say and call you names first. But I respect your opinion too much to do that.

Nobody is being a mindless drone for liking the radio show if thats how they feel about it. And if they like it, why should they not share their opinion on this site and especially on others where the show is getting unfairly slammed by people who only hate the station for how it treated their hero howard stern. It seems to me you should listen to the show itself instead of relying on what the reviews say before you go criticizing people on this site for expressing their heart felt opinions.

See, you're not even bothering to read what I wrote...You're taking it completely the wrong way. I'm telling you guys who attack every criticism of Dave's debut, to chill out. I've HEARD him on the downloads and frankly a lot of the criticism he's getting is warranted.

Based on your name, I wouldn't expect you to do anything but trash other opinions.

Dave may do very well eventually, but right now, people trashing every negative review mindlessly is getting fucking old, really fucking fast. It's bordering on Spammy -fan stupidity! Enjoy the show, and quit getting all bent out of shape when a reviewer doesn't like the show. Dave is Dave and will always be our #1 guy in rock. Radio may take a while.
