I never said that Dave wasn't authoritative. He has claimed to be. However, the return "pressure" from Eddie Van Halen created that sound. End of story. Yin and Yang.

Dave needs someone to bring a sense of parity to the songwriting process, rather than someone who is hired by Dave, and therefore less likely to rock the boat.

Dave just needs to put out an heavy heavy metal rock album.

Re: Dave's problem with Guitarists after VH

            I know why ...

Dave was always looking for the next Eddie Van Heinekin n' shit ...

I'm telling you that's why dave failed because he could never find the next EVH ...

Broken down n' dirty dressed in rags ...

I think that Dave needs a guitarist that will argue with him and fight with him about the music. Then we will see better and better music.
Don't get me wrong I love all of Dave's solo albums. But I just think if Dave had a guitarist that he argued with him constantly maybe the music would be better.

You act as if anybody cares to push DLR in any music direction. He is a cover band of a once great band. A parody of himself. Tell me that I am wrong. What has he done over the last 5 years other than a Van Halen cover band, and a cover album? Nothing. Its over for him. For christ's sake.

I think the recent guitarists say Yes Sir to Dave instead of Hey man I like this riff I dont care lets put it in the song.

Conflict. Isnt that one thing that David said that made Classic Vh work?

Daves been lucky to find guitarists as good as he has though. I couldnt think of many peple skilled enough to play eruption these days, but when i saw him in Feb his guitarist played it perfectly.

I agree with this...and to take it a bit further...

I think Dave would need to treat his band more like "equals" than just hired hands. Chemistry might happen a little easier if you aren't worried about pissing off the boss. I believe great songs require collaboration, not dictatorship...
