Group's manager now says -- totally untrue
        By TMZ.COM STAFF

(Feb. 13, 2:20PM ET) -- Will Van Halen be the next band to find a new lead singer on 'Rock Star: The Series'? The band's spokesperson "vehemently" denies it.

Earlier, Larry Solters, a high-powered Hollywood publicist who reps Van Halen, told TMZ, "I'm not denying it. I'm not going to answer any questions about it." Today, Solters contacted TMZ and said in no way was he confirming the rumor that Van Halen was headed for 'Rock Star.'

Last year, the band INXS used 'Rock Star' to find a new lead singer. J.D. Fortune won the competition, and the band is now making a comeback with a hit new album and a sold-out tour.

As for Van Halen, the group has had three lead singers since it hit the scene back in 1978: David Lee Roth, who left the band in 1985, Sammy Hagar, who split in 1996, and Gary Cherone, who recorded just one album and toured with the band in 1998.

The next season of 'Rock Star,' produced by Mark Burnett for CBS, is scheduled to air during the summer. Neither Burnett nor CBS would comment on the Van Halen buzz.

I hope that this does not happen how much more of a black eye can this former legendary band take. It is a shot at my pride now. If they would sell out for something liek rockstar for the cash then why not call diamond and hit the fucking road. The crazy thing is nothing suprises me with thsi band. I can hear they hired Kelly Clarkson tomorrow and I would not be suprised. In the same breath I can hear a full hardcore reunion with Dave is happening and that would not suprise me as well. What two jackoffs teh 2 brothers have become. Sorry I needed to Vent.

Van Halen's publicist is full of BS. He must think we are all really stupid and naive. This is very poor publicity for them, if that's what he is trying to stir up. Whether they show up on ROCKSTAR or not, this will leave an even worse taste in my mouth about these Sisters.

Bottom line at this point is that they can't be trusted. I don't think this article puts an end to the possibility of them trying to find their next Frontman on National TV...and sure Mikey will be there...TV exposure, you know...he's got a BBQ sauce to sell....it's all about greed and $$. You know that these turkeys don't do anything anymore for the sake of being true artists...it's all about the BUCK $$$.

It's pretty shitty when the Sisters lose their intregity like they have. Don't be surprised if you are home on a summer night, turn on CBS and see Marty Casey or some other guy/gal from last season trying his luck to sing D.O.A or UNCHAINED....Yeah..."nothin stays the same"

              who's have thought...

we'd be talking about Dave on the radio replacing Stern...

Van Halen as the band on some reality show looking for a lead singer...

and Sammy Hagar collaborating with...Toby Keith...

              lmfao...

              well...okay...the Hagar/Keith collaboration isn't a surprise...

I would asked the bartender to "Make my drink very stiff this

MA will not be a part of it. he should be if they are making any kind of statement as a band but for some reason I dont see MA there.

eddie hates dave. hes been trying to bury evrything they did with dave since sam was hired. eddie knows the public wants CVH. he hates that!

this is his way if putting the final nail in the coffin and then the VH name will be retired. this is eds final foot stomp on the CVH name.

this is what ed wants so DLR name never caomes up again for a reunion. hes not doing this cause they want a singer but to only damage the legacy more till the point where its beyond repair.

I hope dave realizes that the boat was missed in 1996 and even though fans like me would still love to see a reunion I am thinking it would be the wrong thing to do for dave if they indeed do this rockstar show.

As much of a dumbass Alex is, I don't think he'd ever go for this.

Unless, he's doing the "crystal METHod" as well.

Here's what I think will ultimately happen...The VH sisters will go through 13 episodes of total ass-grabbery with these so called singers (who really only want to be on TV), Eddie will get ripped on crystal meth and Schlitz the night before he has to pick the replacement singer and decide that he doesn't want some clown to take the spotlight from him and his meth/loon habit, and make the call to DLR to patch things up...The whole time, DLR will be pumping things up on the radio show, so when the call comes to get back in VH, it will set off massive earthquakes, the ground will split open, the seas will produce killer tsunamis and the sun will fall from the sky...then we will finally have the tour we all want--one last blast with the mighty VH..

I don't want no fucking album--I just want one night seeing them again.

                        Eddie wake up you fuck-funnel..

Franksters heard this morning .......THIS IS GOING TO BE THE DEMISE - Who in their right mind would stoop to poop....only the Sisters and of course, Mikey...he's as guilty as the other two. He has put Dave down on the "Early Van Halen Years" DVD. These three clowns are sad and washed up:

Man, I just have a real hard time believing that someone would commit the time, money and manpower to ANY TV project that had EVH tied to it. He's too big a variable it seems to me. If he started to unravel how long do you honestly think he and Alex would allow that to be filmed? So, he would disappear into rehab and that's the end of the show.

Larry Solters seems to be doing the typical bullshit move of trying to capitalize on any VH news. Hence the whole won't confirm or deny move at first. Even his statement that he never meant to confirm it keeps it out there. It does keep the VH awareness up for a period of time and send everyone into a tizzy. It's not like VH is very news worthy these days unless it's, you know, a divorce or illness.

I want the first 3 contestants to be Dave impersonators with the first one bringing out palm trees, the second one shouting Look at all the People here Tonight and the 3rd one screaming Hello Cleveland !
Then the 4th singer should be dressed as a clown.
Back from commercial there is 2 more Dave impersonators and segment 4 is the standby of Ed and Al chain smoking into the camera bitching about all the contestants.

Just try not to watch this..

It's like the ambulance on the highway, yep I know..you're too proud.
