Well...I, for one, am really hoping that Lynch can convince Jeff to rejoin Dokken...Don and Mick alone, with their ever-revolving lineup of guitarists, just isn't cutting it...Dokken albums now are about Don indulging his Beatles fantasies and writing acoustic crap for 90% of the rotation...nothing about the last two studio albums has rocked at all...

George wants to go back, and he's said as much, but Jeff's been the harder case...

Don and Mick should FORMALLY beg George and Jeff to rejoin, let George and Jeff write 90% of the album ("Wicked Underground" was mentioned, and the review is very true) and retire the band on a high note.

Or on whatever note Don can still hit...you know, Don had a really decent set of pipes on him back in the day and could actually croon pretty admirably, but he's totally smoked what's left of his voice...shit, honestly...let Jeff sing on the last Dokken album and let Don play rhythm/2nd lead next to George...might as well, Don's 100 times a better guitarist than he is a singer, anyway...and I've got my 1981 Dokken bootlegs to prove it...

      Twistin' by the pool.

Dokken has never interested me, but I married a Dokken fanatic. Hubby's into most all of the 80's hair metal except the ones who had strong roots in the 70's (which I still can't understand). So like a good wifey, I've let him share with me his Dokken "string of hits" on various media.

I'll agree that George Lynch is a great guitarist. But he's lived a VERY different life since the end of the famous Dokken lineup. Holistic lifestyle in the desert, yoga, and if I'm not mistaken he's a Buddhist (isn't he?). And if I remember correctly didn't he give up any public or recorded performances for a very long time?

My point is that I really can't put EVH and GL beside each other and compare. Only because George literally gave up working for a long time. EVH has been working and honestly giving somewhat of an effort to stay relevant. Sadly, to an end I'm afraid given the most recent photos, but none-the-less "trying"...

pilson and lynch wrote most of tooth and nail and it showed!

I am suprised to hear george wants back in dokken. I know him and don never seen eye to eye and the big reason why he isnt in the band.

the last release was pretty good actually. half the cd really has an old feel to it and lynch could have ripped that up. I was suprised to hear some good stuff on the new one. def better than dysfuntional!

pilson is a good singer and still can write great songs. "Stranger In A strange Land" was an excellent song and would have been a hit in the 80's and maybe now if it got airplay. it was written after sep 11th. great great song!

So far as I know, George has worked pretty consistantly...certainly more consistantly than Ed has...

During his first time off from Dokken, he did the two Lynch Mob albums and a solo album...went back to Dokken...did another handful of Lynch Mob albums after that (2? I think), solo albums, tributes, the album with Jeff (Lynch/Pilson), the Dokken songs remade album, etc...he seems to me like he's been pretty active, all things considered, but I don't know for sure...

There was an interview with him a few months back I posted where he said straight up in plain english that he wanted to rejoin...search in House of Music, under Lynch or Dokken...bound to be there somewhere...

I would love to get ahold of those 81 bootlegs. I think that you are correct that Jeff should sing and let Don play. Jeff and George are the obvious driving force and I said previously, just listen to their 'Wicked Underground' and you can really tell how tight they are. Let's face it, George and Don both have egos but at least George can still back his up while Don's ego is writing checks his body just can't cash! LOL

Ok, when it comes time to compare vanities of aging rock stars it's time to click START, Log Off, Shut Down, and then head outdoors.

Nobody is a fair comparison to "New Millenium" Eddie Van Halen.
All we need from him at this point is for him to claim he and Hagar partied with Aliens and traded him Love Walks In, When it's Love, and Dreams, for a big bag of earth bud.

The Aliens got the better deal by the way...

I think I may need glasses, thought you said:

george lynch is musically not a genuine ass like ed is.

... to which I would have said "yes"

I'm not going to bash Edward on this one....I just can't. The man went through chemotherapy for God's sake, and I would wager that most of you have no idea how much it can really mess someone up physically. Everything you see with Edward can be caused by chemo...EVERYTHING. I watched my father go through that shit for 13 fucking years, until he finally passed this January. It aged him, made his hair thinner, took the enamel off of his teeth, all kinds of stuff. Plus you have the stress of dealing with cancer...as if all of the other shit isn't enough.

Edward still drinks and smokes...and yes he should think about stopping that. However, I just don't get all of this other shit you guys are saying. Yeah...he's lied, and whatever about a fuckin' rock band, but you fuckers act like you enjoy seeing someone in this state. I don't...no matter how much Van Hagar sucked or how much him and Roth don't get along. I want the man to get better, because deep down I still know he is the same guy who Dave called the "King of 10 fingers and 6 strings."

I love Lynch's playing and that "Wicked Sensation" is a totally forgotten gem, but George was no match for Ed in his prime, and he'd tell you the same thing.

Fuck Dokken, I'd rather have a good Lynch Mob album.
