    daves concerts boring!

ok...i saw dave 5/20/05 in san diego, with a few fine members from this board!! i was really too bombed to remember what he was like.

so i get this dvd that is dave at the hard rock in november '05. i compare that to DLR/HAGAR 02 and DLR finland 99 and honestly i dont see any enthusiasm in his show!

why do you think that is? DO you think maybe he things, "im doing radio soon, i dont need to sing these same songs anymore.." or maybe, "here i am, singing the same shit 20 'summers later' singing the same old shit..." but honeslty within that few years there is a serious drop in enthusiasm between him in 02 and him in 99....and at first between 05 and 99 i could see, "well, maybe he's older...and cant jump around as much...? but between 02 and 05 is only 3 years and when i saw him at HOB in 03 in anaheim, ca, he was jumping around and singing with energy like a damn 20 year old....

im just wondering your take on his lack of energy in the recent shows...

maybe you all know something i dont knowl........maybe you might agree with me, but i want imput, damn it!

Dave had knee surgery in April '05, cuz I had tickets to see him here in California and he had to cancel the concert and push back some of his concert dates to allow his knee to heal.

I understand What Spmusicplyr is saying and I respect his opinion, although, I completely disagree when describing Dave's Concerts as Boring (????).............Never farther from the truth (in my opinion)......BUT, I have compared DLR's stage presence from past concerts to recent and YES, they are much different in terms of how he works the crowd and his moves on stage (Perhaps, in some respects, it's become "Routine"?). He's no longer doing knee bends and jumping around with larger than life attitude and personality as in past performances. Nevertheless, every concert I've gone to, he's got the crowd going nutz for him and he appears to be having a good time.

Since we can only speculate, I would believe that he is a bit tired of singing the same CVH songs as a solo performer (but, here is a part of the private world of Dave in which we have no idea what he's thinking when he performs these songs routinely) but he delivers as promised. Yeah, I would love to hear him mix in DLR Solo material into the venue, which I think is some kick ass music, but maybe that's a question we can ask him on the radio?

If ever a reunion with his old bandmates, the guys he basically grew up with from the suburbs of Pasadena to the bright lights of Hollywood, you would see an amazing metamorphisis take place on stage......perhaps you can call it PRIDE and a reflection of his life, and the special chemistry of these four individuals creating music that would go down in Rock n' Roll History, have the buzz word of "Legendary" attached to their names and the mere fact that this band made it in a world where the smallest percentage ever capture the attention of a major record label and make a household name for themselves. If Dave were allowed to be taken back to his youth, you can bet, there would be some wild enthusiasm, jumping and larger than life attitude exude on Stage.

He wants his youth back just as much as he talks about us wanting the same.

Sure, everyone's body is diffferent, but I don't know if 50 slows you down drastically....do ya think?

Mick Jagger is still working the stage at 60, like he did at 30.

It has to be tough touring without any new stuff to sing...

I think that's one of the theme that you hear in interviews with just about every act: "why tour without a new album?"
