You ever wonder why all the early albums had a cover tunes on them (You really got me, you're no good, pretty woman, Dancing in the streets, ect.) but 1984 didn't and they never did a cover (except the unreleased live version of Rock N Roll) with Slammy Hagar. And I wonder who picked which covers they did on those early albums, and if they were just songs they did live before they got a record deal.

Agreed Jason Becker ROCKS and ALAE rocks. Again, I am not posting because I am Vai's super fan. I am posting because it is clear Dave Year 2006 sure could use Vai or EVH to gain his mass record buying public back and have a big tour. I hope it happens. I also think Brian Young friggin ROCKS with Dave live. I don't understand why that hasn't translated to getting Dave back to his earlier popularity. dave is doing fine without vai because both of them only follow THEIR road....vai as well as dave...vai could have joined every major band if he wanted...

he wants to do HIS stuff...fine...good luck...he's far too alienated to work with a creative quarterback like dave...

Agreed, but I hope you're wrong about Dave not getting mass appeal back. However, the point I am making about why it SUCKS that Dave is so off-the-charts is not simply so we can all brag about how great Dave is doing. It will keep him ACTIVE. Look at how many recording and tours he has done since his career crashed since the YFLM release. He just disappeared. He does a comeback album here and there the comeback doesn't really happen. I am reduced to searching f**king eBay for bootleg videos of Dave KILLING IT in some little dump in Idaho somewhere. He wouldn't have had to tour with that piece-of-SH*T Hagar and I wouldn't have had to sit in a crowd of Hagar fans. All of this matters. He would be on the map again with Vai. That's all I am saying.
