I like all the others VH /Roth / whatever sites everywhere(can you feel the compromiseing politically correct sickness, are you down with it?)

The Army is the Big Dog and The Best of what it is we /i want.

All the other sites offer different things(can you FEEL IT!! ,can you, the fukkin LOVE!!)so they are unique in thier own place.

If Roth has a problem with content or conduct he has the rite, it is under his name.Maybe no legal rite but what legal/personal rite, he has, is
his, and should be looked at carefully.

I think maybe in part the layout of this site is Its greatest asset
no other board is in this fasion whoever is responsible must be

DDLR took care of me in my time of need when the army was down awhile back, cool place ,when i was peruseing sites over the years

It wouldn’t be the end of the world but I would be disappointed. Although I have only posted at DDLR since December 2006 I have come to really enjoy the time I spend there and the interaction with the other posters. I am certainly not going to come in to the Army having first been welcomed so kindly and trash the place, but let’s face it: the two sites have completely distinct personalities. I happen to prefer one over the other - significantly.

Although I lurk at the Army regularly, when I can get it to load without making my CPU usage max out at 100% (I cannot load at least 70% of the threads here and this is the only site on the internet that doesn’t seem to load properly on my system), I don’t think I am being offensive by saying that I do not enjoy posting here. It is like I read at least 20 times in the last day or so – “If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen”. Well I am not ashamed to say I personally can’t stand the heat so to me DDLR is “out of the kitchen”. I enjoy the occasional excited debate and a rare flame war or two but I tend to appreciate the more intellectual and friendly approach of the posters at DDLR. That said there are some super-smart and genuinely nice regulars at the Army. And when there is a flame war at the Army, I laugh my ass off at some of the things that are posted…..

But I digress….of course I am only aware of the issues you face in deciding whether or not to resurrect DDLR based on what I have read in this thread yet it seems that you and others have put significant work into that place and your work has been highly successful to this point. Is it really a big deal? Well it seems to me it would be a shame to let all your effort go to waste and I would genuinely miss the community.

Worst case, re-name the site to something Non-DLR, and just keep up the same stuff? I have made a tom of Friends there over the years and I somehow want to keep in touch with all of you.

Believe me I can see your point about getting little respect from the people the sites are dedicated to, but I say fuck 'em. The sites are bigger than the idiots we started them for, it's about a community of people.

I've wanted to shut down so many fucking times because of how shitty VH treats its fans, but have been convinced by people that's not about the stupid band, but about the group of users that enjoy shooting the shit everyday with each other.

Agreed that there all assholes but DLR is the most arrogant out of them all. He thinks no one can tell him what to do WRONG!!! Case in point his radio gig sure the bigwigs knew what his show would be about but when their ratings dropped and he was getting bad reveiws he was told to tone it down.He basically said I'm DLR I can do what I want so they fired him.Thats because all of them never had real jobs before and were their own bosses.DLR got a little taste of what it is to have a regular job and he didn't like it.Now about him being the only singer for Van Halen I couldn't agree more EVH and DLR HAD THE MAGIC.But lets be honest when you first put on the first CVH album did you say wow listen to that Bass,Drums or how great DLR sings no.You said who is that mother fucker playing guitar.It wasn't till they went on tour that DLR was getting Equal attention than EVH because you could finally see the guy perform and he was a great performer.But I am glad to see that some people here are seeing Daves true colors.Say what you want about Sam he treats his fan with fucking respect updates his site etc... So from what I'm hearing Dave could give to shits about these websites real nice. If i were the owners I would shut them down why would I do something nice and not even be thanked?

Gents, I hope you keep it going over there, but I understand the frustration.

Of course, it wouldn't be as big of a deal if Dave kept up a marginally acceptable site. I've never understood why Dave can't get someone halfway competent to OCCASIONALLY update his fuckin' site. Keep the tour dates current. Get a sentence or two from Dave every few weeks on the phone. This shit just isn't that hard.

Dave's attitude about all of this convinces me that he truly doesn't need the money. The only way I ever hear about a show is at DDLR.com. He'd have damn near nobody at the shows without these sites.

But I really don't think he cares. I think Dave just does whatever he feels like doing, but truly doesn't give a shit about anything short of a VH reunion.
