The only fault i have in that way of thinking is, The reason that all four albums with Sammy don't stick is because Dave was not there. Ifr Dave would have still been in the band probably some of those softer radio friendly tune's would had never made on the album. And IMO Anything that VH would have done with the origional members would be a instant classic!!

Some of them wouldn't, maybe... but they were already fighting over songs like "I'll Wait" and "Jump". Some of those Hagar-era songs would have made it.Comment

I'm pretty sure that some would have, but the chemistry that Ed and Dave had would have turned those songs if they would have been released into something totally classic. See the problam that Sammy has always had is that he writes lyrics like his personality , very straight forward and buisness like. That's why him and mike get along so well. They are very working class dudes, where as Dave, AL and ed or very eccentric and kind of out there. I think that when Sammy entered the picture he brought Ed and Al down to his level of writing and that's why you have the music like it is.Comment

Nobody in the band is on the same level they used to be. However it'd be interesting to see if Dave and Ed could butt heads again and step up to make kickass music together again. I know Dave would be up to it!Comment

I spoke to somebody about Dave who went to the same show as me in February in the U.K., and he had also seen Dave with VH in 1984 and all his solo tours since (all in the U.K.). He said that the Feb show was the best Dave's ever been. I thought he was superb, his voice was great. So Dave can't sing anymore??? When did you last see him?Originally posted by cwsmith17

Reunited, the original four would are much bigger than their music.
Dave is more relevant than Sam the instant he does a radio interview as the renewed frontman of VH.
Reparations would be undeniable in media buzz, concert attendance and "surprise" pregnancies to 35-45 year old couples across the good old US of A.

this VH ball that keeps rolling downhill just makes the dream reunion look that much better. the worse VH looks the better the reunion that everyone wants with Dave gets.

After this mistake...I mean tour...a line up with Dave would probably need a new album first, a press blitz, and then they would be fine. But by blowing it with sammy here in 2004 and the history of the sisters and lead singers, it makes them look like a joke and seems very hard to recover from.Comment

In terms of a REAl reunion it has to be promoted properly!
Like Kiss did when they announced their FIRST REUNION TOUR with the original lineup! They set up a press conference with the original lineup and promoted the tour like it was a presidential election!
Without the mega promotion KISS wisely organized for the media, the tour may not have been as big as it was!
When the Eagles and Springsteen ( back with the E Street Band ) reunited for the first time, they all held a press conference and promoted the tour. Therefore, the tour dates SOLD OUT and because it was the ORIGINAL lineup!
It sure looks like Eddie, Alex, Mike, and Sammy really care about this tour considering there had not been a press conference since the tour leaked via the internet, and NOT a word from Eddie or Alex about this BOGUS reunion tour! In fact, with the exception of Eddie taking a phone call from a couple of idiots from a radio station in which he didn't want to say anything about the upcomming tour or music or anything, he hasn't said a word to the fans. He sure doesn't want to hear about DAVE not being there, guaranteed!
The original question if DAVE can still rescue Van Halen? The REAL Reunion tour would be done professionaly and the fans would know that they aren't getting the runaround from Dave! When Dave was in Van Halen you knew you were getting the best! Best merchandise, Best Stage-lights, and best concert performance each and every night!
One thing Dave has over any of the idiots in Van Hagar is his charismatic character and love for entertainment and pleasing the fans! Van Hagar doesn't respect it's fans since they refuse to communicate with them from the start of this irrelevant tour.Comment
