I absolutely refuse to allow myself to be buttfucked by this reunion remour again. I refuse. I'll believe it when I am sitting in my seat, listening to the opening of Unchained, and I see Dave, Ed, Al and Mike on that stage.
There's nothing to even get excited about here, at fucking all.
Jumped off of the self-created Getting My Hopes Up For A Reunion Train awhile ago. Jimmy Jingles nailed it: shit or get off the pot.
Don't bother sending messages to one another through the press about it. Fucks sake, if these guys can't get in contact directly with each other without going through management, the whole thing is fucked before it even gets started.
ALL of them should grow up and just do it IF they WANT to, or just plain shut the fuck up about it.

He wouldn't play with him without the sisters, and he won't do the vice versa.
IMO, of course
What makes you so sure that Dave wouldn't do it without BassPlayer?
After all, Bassplayer has talked crapola about Dave. BassPlayer is no saint in the CVH history and he's already become a Waborita - a definite Tainted NO NO in all things VH.

Okay - suppose it does make sense to have the whole team, just like a fine Cake recipe (one ingredient you feel is insignificant and the whole cake can fall or ruin the outcome!)
What an amazing obstacle. First "Impossible" hurdle is getting Ed to be open to doing anything with ROTH again..........then he says he's open to the possibility.......
....now we have to worry about whether or not Ed is willing to take back BassPlayer?
What else could happen? Al and Ed decide to divorce themselves from being brothers and we have to wait until they reconcile?
If Whitney Houston can divorce Bobby Brown finally and maybe get herself off Crack....do ya think we can actually see Ed rehabilitate himself too, reconcile with the BassPlayer and negotiate a Reunion contract with his and Roth's attorneys and this show on the ROAD?

All I can say is, 2008 is 30 years since VH1, a Diamond record in the US and hailed as a rock classic worldwide.
Someone at the record company will be pushing the cash cow on that. Now whether we get a box set or rarities and unleashed material; rare live footage (we all know it exists); a tour; or a new record with the songs Sped is sitting on, I don't know.
But if the record label and management don't start pushing for something then they are missing a major business oportunity. And I'm sorry to say it, but I think it's gonna take someone like that to sit the four of them down in a room and make them talk.....

There may be some discrepancy over who has the rights to release any "vaulted" CVH stuff; probably the Van Halens have to sign off on any such venture.
I have to believe if Warner Brothers had a trump card or some clause that enabled them to release whatever they saw fit (as long as royalties were being paid), a whole shitload of stuff would have been put out there around the turn of the millenium; basically think WB was willing to give Van Halen 3 and Cherone a shot because the mentality was "hey, Eddie and the boys still sold records after Dave left in 1985, so maybe they'll be able to pull it off a third time." 'Specially after WB and VH parted ways around 2000, we'd have seen CVH product if it was possible - no point in trying to be courteous to an act that is no longer on their label.
Think WB isn't pushing all kinds of Roth-era box sets and Roth-era (man, I fuckin' HATE having to distinguish who was fronting the band when I talk about VH!) vids basically because they CAN'T without the consent of the brothers....
Would be fairly interested to find out the FACTS behind Van Halen's contract and ownership of the material - who the primary parties are re: the rights to release the material.
