I had the pleasure of scoring two 8th row tickets to DLR at the Nugget in Reno/Sparks. Not a great turn out which was a little depressing because we hold an event in town called Street Vibrations which bikers from all over come into town(around 40,000) I got there around 7:30, got a drink, noticed no merch which is crazy, saw a couple got roth shirts and some old DLR shirts and VH tour shirts. Show starts a litttle after 8 to a small crowd that were not too interested. As the show progressed, Dave won the crowd over and the place started to fill up a bit. He played the usual songs but no mean streets(boo). The band sounded great and the sound was strong. Brian was solid but unspectacular, the new drummer is very solid. Dave's voice was a little weak in the first song or two but was VERY strong as the night went on. I really feel like this tour is a warm up to a possible re-union. I snuck up to the 2nd row then the stage as the security(not much) started losing control. The crowd really responded as the show conitnued and the energy was at it highest in the last 4 or 5 tunes. Dave is beyond the professional and played like there was 20,000 in the audience. Everyone got a great show and by the end of the night I think Dave knew that he does have a fan base in Reno. Overall, I had a great time, glad I got to sneak up closer and I really hope the other half of Van Halen(Eddie) can get their shit together because the excuse of Dave not being able to hit the notes is so lame and doesn't fit into the equation anymore.

HA!!!
He wouldn't draw 5,000 a night on a reunion tour.....like Spam did in 2004 on the FLEECE THE SHEEP tour.....
DAVID LEE ROTH & CLASSIC VAN HALEN would sellout across the globe...bank on thatComment

I was there as well. Dave was amazing....the audience was a bit pitiful. Not so much in regards to number turnout, but once Dave hit the stage, you are automatically ready to stand the night away. There were people in the audience telling me to sit down....I thought, are these people nutz? WHO in their right mind sits at a ROTH Concert?
At times, I felt like I was in the geriatric section of a retirement home....What's up with the RENO crowd?Comment

I don't know about "sell out" over here, but they'd probably do the same kind of business that Motley Crue did last year.Originally posted by DavidLeeNatra

Van Hagar really didn't tour here that much, and as a result the Halen fanbase isn't what it used to be, but they'd still be playing arenas! The Power Of The Riff Compels MeComment

Re: DLR in Reno
What was up with the Reno Crowd? I was in disbelief as to why so many would be at a concert would be sitting throughout? Were these people not aware that Dave is pure Hard Rock ? Did they think they were taking in a Barry Manilow concert?Originally posted by estang74

I don't know if you remember, but Dave was fully aware at how the audience was sitting and not showing their enthusiasm. He made the remark that they were a challenging audience. I looked behind me to find some very old people in their 70's just sitting there and wondered what could have possibly brought them there? I'm glad DLR didn't tone it down for anyone, but I tell ya, I'm less enthusiastic to hit another Reno show. I think Sencio can take Reno off the list and stick to Tahoe instead.Comment

Reno can be lame at times when it comes to music. I noticed a lot of blue hairs, probably because of the venue. If he would have played downtown it would have been a total different audience. You can blame the tour manager for that one, he should do a little research before booking gigs in areas that Dave hasn't played in quite some time. Street Vibrations(biker rally) took place in downtown Reno, not Sparks, which is where the concert was held. The nugget is an older crowd casino so not really dave's market. Maybe next time(if he comes back) he should have his tour manager look into the Silver Legacy casino which is in the heart of downtown and puts on quite a few shows. Dave would have had access to downtown crowds and bikers. 55 bucks was a little too steep for tickets also, Reno ain't Vegas.Comment

LOL!! about the Blue Hair!!! Makes sense now. I'm telling ya, I think I will write to Dave's booking mgr. to give him this info - Dave puts on way too great of a show to be missed by the Main Event in the downtown area. Bikers would have totally gone to his show. Thanks for the info on Sparks. I stayed at the Nugget and I wondered why it seemed a bit quiet around there ?Originally posted by estang74
