OK Guys! We know who we love and who we hate but I just want to know who has the balls to say they bought and paid for some Spam albums when he was with Van Hagar? I know I'm guilty because of my homage to EVH..but did I do it to help get them the record sales while Sam was in the group because of Sam...Hell NO I did it because I was a EVH fan. I'm sure there's some other guilty ones just the same. So us TRUE CHV fans may be responsible for the success of Sammy with Van Halen just because we were fans of EVH and it had nothing to do with Spammy's influence. So how does that weigh in the record sales of Dave vs. Spam? Are we Guilty?
OK.. Who owns the entire "Van Halen" catalog?

Bought 5150 when it first came out...
Had OU812 and F*U*C*K taped for me for free by an Eddie Grunt...
Had no interest in RHRN or Balance...have listened to them both a few times...
Picked up Van Halen 3 in a discount bin less than a year after it was released, mostly because all I heard was Without You and wanted to see if the rest of it was as bad as everyone said (can't really criticize what you haven't heard)...
Have listened to the 3 2004 Van Hagar tracks once or twice a piece.
Getting 5150 was a given when it first came out, because although I was getting into players like Yngwie Malmsteen and Vivian Campbell by 1984, Van Halen was among my favorite bands at that point. Curiousity.
I'll even go one step further and bravely admit which Van Hagar/Van Halen 3 tracks I could almost stomach listening to:
5150 (title track)
A.F.U.
Pleasuredome
Aftershock
Humans Being
Fire In The Hole
Primary
Ballot Or The Bullet
I'd even go so far as to say on every Van Halen release after Dave left there were several kernels of decent ideas, and some of the tracks were decent from an instrumental standpoint. Just the combination of Hagar's voice and trite lyrics along with a progressively lazy band ran the whole thing into the ground. The much maligned Van Halen 3 also had a few moments that rose above the mundane, and there were some ideas on it that didn't suck, but that was all outweighed by CHERONE'S poor lyrics and weak voice and some piss-poor production.
The three lineups are really three different bands under the same name, IMO, and the only one that does it for me is the one fronted by Roth. Just the way it is.Scramby eggs and bacon.Comment

I have them all, VH1 to BOBW. Disc two of RHRN is lost somewhere (possibly from two years ago when I was at school), but I never liked RHRN that much anyway.
I'm a Van Halen fan. I prefer CVH, but I don't hate the Sammy era. I think they did some great stuff with Sammy -- and a fair bit of crap, too -- but none of it is on the level of CVH. Not even close. I like Extreme (and Tribe of Judah, even!) so I quite like VH3. It's not a typical VH record, but I still enjoy it.
I like all eras of VH. I guess it's EVH's guitar playing that does that for me. I freakin' LOVE CVH, though, above everything else the band ever did. When I talk about "Van Halen" to most people, I'm usually talking about CVH.
Oh, and 5150 is overrated. OU812 is mostly a piece of crap with a few shining moments. F.U.C.K. would be much better if it didn't have "Man On A Mission," "In 'n' Out," and "Spanked." They're all ruined by Sammy's lyrics.Waylon Jennings: 1937-2002. RIP, Hoss!Comment

I bought 5150 and OU812 in the store...I was a diehard, sorry...
For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge was taped for me, and I hated every second of it...bought Live and Balance used for the sole purpose of being a completionist.
Best of Vol. 1 I bought on the first day...like everybody else...
Picked up III from the pawn shop about six months after it's release, listened to it driving home...got up as far as Fire in the Hole, rolled down the window and tossed it out into the street.

I bought 5150 on cassette. Listened to it one time. I taped OU812 off a friend's CD, and then listened to it once. That was when I decided they were a band of lame, piece-of-shit, has-beens singing pop music, and I decided that I no longer gave a fuck about them.Comment

At one time or another I have possessed them all. Did I buy the Spam VH? No. BMG/Columbia House Free cds. They were in turn sold to a used cd shop in town. I remember buying 5150 when it came out. It sucked so bad I took it back to the local record shop in town and they took it back. Good times. This space for rent.Comment

I have no fucking shame. I got most of 'em...but not when they came out. I bought the live album and all the others in '93 after ignoring the band since Dave left and was curious to hear what they sounded like. It was basic shite...but I guess I still enjoyed some of the guitar-playing. Even bought the last one and saw 'em live the one time (I was only eight when they played with Dave last). Basically, once Sam was kicked out and Dave rejoined, I remember running around the house screaming in excitement. When it fell through, I hated Eddie Van Halen. Still do.
I actually think that Cherone album is better than any of their Hagar stuff...though I still hate it. I hate all that stuff. It's still on my shelf (my girlfriend asked me the other day, "Why do you own this stuff still if you hate Sammy Hagar so much?"). Yesterday on a three-hour drive I listened to homemade classic VH and a solo Dave disc I burned for myself. I never put on anything else in VH-land.
But back in the day, I gave it a try. I just hate Sammy Hagar too much. Never bought the lameass BOBW...wouldn't dream of it.
By the way, any time people claim they've never heard a Van Hagar song, they're full of shit. The band sucked. Dave leaving was a tragedy. But I don't buy it when people claim that if you ever listened to any of that shit, you should leave the board. That's a fucking joke.
The SHEEP PEN was for one purpose: to attack Dave-bashers. If some fan comes on here and announces that he likes both eras but loves Dave, welcome aboard...as long as he doesn't slam Dave or openly support and ramble on about Cheeseboy.Roth Army Militia

Hey, I've got them all because I'm a completionist.
If I get into a band i'll buy all there records even if I know that they suck - guess that makes me a retard but I can't help myself.
I remember buying them hoping that there would be at least one moment that came close to the six pack and been bitterly disappointed every time....The Power Of The Riff Compels MeComment
