I love How Van Hagar talked about themselves like they were the equivlant of the beatles or some shit. Like they were true "artists" now with Hagar..What the fuck ever. And Yeah Ed, Without DLR being a "landlord"..You would've ended up as nobodies, as memorable today as Say Foriegner, DLR provided an edge to the music, that Sammy Hagar NEVER HAD AND NEVER WILL BE.

See, that's the thing that really pissed me off more than anything else...I mean, you wanna call Dave an asshole, fine, but even at his most childish, Roth never said anything along the lines of how Ed was somehow substandard musically, or how what Dave was doing solo was so much better than anything CVH ever did...I mean, Van Hagar just came across like a bunch of dinks willingly shitting all over what CVH had done ("the old band was just a tester model", etc.) just to give the new lineup some kind of edge in the bullshit press war runup to 5150 being released.
EEAS fuckin' CRATERED Sam Halen. I don't give a shit how much 5150 sold. Let the music do the talkin'

It was disturbing to say the least.
Maybe if they took the high road, ya know, didn't say anything bad about Dave or the CVH years and just talked about their 'new' band and music, that would've been okay.
The only reason Dave started talking back is because Van Hagar wouldn't stop talking shit about him, interview after interview.
Fucking Sam Halen should've just said, 'what we did with Dave was great --- he didn't want to do VH anymore so we wish him well.
But NOOOO---they gotta go on and talk about how they were the victims in the split, how Dave bailed on them at the height of their success.
