I'm sure they'll get right on it now.

      At least you said please.

As long Dave is in it, the quality will be achieved. I hope we don't get a VH IV...

Remember last winter, when dave was on the radio, he said they had 5-6 classic bombproof songs recorded from 2004 era. he said he would put them up there with VH1, fair warning. If they can pull of RRHOF in NYC, then summer, tour, 40 dates, extend nto the fall, indoor arenas, New years eve gig. then go into studio, finsih 3-4 more tunes, then another Spring summer 2008 tour with new material. When that is done, put out a 4 disc remastered, unreleased Christmas 2008 release. If they play their cards right, this reunion can have a 2 year lifespan.

He certainly sounded genuine when he mentioned that, I remember catching that on a podcast and thinking FUCK I WANNA HEAR THAT.

Good set, but too expensive, March 5, 2004
Reviewer: Darth Kommissar (Las Vegas, NV (USA)) - See all my reviews

Through the course of their entire career, Van Halen was a rock band that almost never failed to please. As anyone will tell you, the band early days with original lead singer David Lee Roth were some of their finest. And at long last, a box set of the six David Lee Roth albums is available! Read on for my review of this set.
                      PROS:
-As stated above, all six of the David Lee Roth-era Van Halen albums are in this set.
-The package includes a handy booklet.
-In addition to the things you'd normally expect in a package like this, you get a ring with the classic Van Halen logo on it! How cool is that?

                      CONS:
-This set is too expensive. You can buy the six David Lee Roth-era Van Halen albums separately for only about $90 total. The purpose of box sets like this is to REDUCE the price of a set of albums, not INCREASE it!
-The set wastes a good deal of CD space. Why put on six discs what would easily fit on just three?
-No rarities or material beyond the David Lee Roth period.

                      OVERALL:
Overall this set is an excellent idea, but I think the record company could have pulled it off a little better. Take my advice and just buy the albums separately. Warner Bros. reissued their albums in America not too long ago, so you should be able to come across them in most stores.

The Greatest Box Set Ever, August 13, 2003
Reviewer: Musical Mayhem (Somewhere) - See all my reviews
Van Halen. What a great band. With eddie's great guitar work and david lee roth's soaring vocals, this collection is perfect. All six albums of the david lee roth era are on this box set which are Van Halen, Van Halen II, Women and Children First, Fair Warning, Diver Down, and Van Halen 1984. All of these albums are much better than the Sammy Hagar albums (which were merely ok compared to the clasics) and the Gary Cherone's horrendous Van Halen III. So buy this box set and if you want, buy the Van Halen box: 1986-1993 and Van Halen III to complete the Van Halen Discography (although the two mentioned fail to match the success of this box set).

                        A 20 song album?

No thanks, that's not really in keeping with the six pack is it? They were all pretty short records.

If there is a new record, I'd prefer 10-12 really killer songs....

Well, we can all dream that they could hold it together for that long!

But yeah, I think you're right: put the A+ songs on the first record, and work the rest up for a second one...
