I've just read an article that reckons the tour is seriously a disaster before it started and won't go ahead:

"The Van Halen tour has been "shut down," according to a top official at Live Nation, the huge concert promoter that finally surrendered in the face of the chaos surrounding guitar hero Eddie Van Halen. Roth, meanwhile, says he is unsure whether the mercurial guitarist will even travel to New York for the Hall of Fame induction on March 12."

My thoughts exactly:

WHY isn't an official source, uh...em...Janie, at the very least, put all the crap rumors to bed??????

Make an official announcement . If ED needs rehab, say it....I can take it and would support it. But to leave us dangling, leaves a very bad taste in the mouths of many. They may find the only ones still hanging on and supporting them are the die-hards - and at best, would the fan base be big enough to fill the amphitheatres at that point or House of Blues circuit?

Yes, I don't want Van Halen being a joke, especially now.

The tour hasn't been officially CANCELLED......only postponed. :D

I agree. This SHOULD have been the one reunion to defy all expectations and produce something fantastically unique. But Eddie's in charge, and that's clearly a mistake. I find I'm wanting to see this thing for all the wrong reasons, now. I'm wanting to see it because this will probably be the last chance to see Roth and Ed playing together onstage again, and I want to rubberneck at the accident. I thought Pojo was being a little harsh at times about all of this, but his points are starting to resound a little louder...

I don't want Van Halen to be a joke. Certainly not while Dave's in the lineup.

Well, I'm kinda sad now.
I just read that article in the other thread that interviews Dave. I got the distinct impression that Wolfgang is trying to "save" his dad.

If so, this isn't a reunion, it's an attempted intervention done with a 15-year old kids mentality, "Just remind him how great he is and he'll be all better." That tugs at my heart strings.

I don't see this going forward. I don't think it should go forward, especially after reading how Wolfgang was "the maestro" and "using his Ipod to remind his dad..." This is the beginning of some real turmoil for Ed and his son. Poor Wolf.
