And some people take life just a wee bit too seriously. These threads are so much fun, everyone is trying to justify everything. It's cute as well, you're coming to a DLR forum and telling everyone Dave is bullshit or something, and expecting everyone to love you and respect your opinion. What planet are you on? Yeah, you make a point - not necessarily a good one - but why are you expecting strawberries and cream? I'm sorry but I have no sympathy for you whatsoever because you've asked for the shit, man. Next time stick around a wee bit longer to find out what people are like. And don't say I'm a non-DLR fan because I said this. I've made me point clear that I'm not happy with the Dave slagging and the Mike slagging and I just can't be bothered anymore. *^_^* \m/

I've done worse. I've gone round telling everyone I love them, headbanged to Final Countdown and danced TWICE to the Numa Numa song Dragonsta din Tei or something doing the dance moves as well.

Ok people, let me ask you one thing, if ed and dave were great, what about randy rhoads and ozzy, that was great and even better than CVH, I saw RR and Ozzy 3 weeks before he died and I was friggin 9 then. Yes the CVH dynamic was truly incredible, but that wasn't the only thing out there at the time, and yet it is funny that we all get hung up on ed and dave, because they are still around to give a crap about. But lets give credit where credit is due can we

Randy and Ozzy could have reached the heights of CVH had they played together longer...

Ozzy and Randy were great for similar reasons to Eddie and Dave.

Nobody talks about the greatness of Kevin DuBrow and Randy Rhoads. That's why Van HALEN got signed and Quiet Riot didn't, back in the day.

Ozzy is a great frontman, or at least was back in 1979, DuBrow is not

When Ozzy was putting his "Blizzard" band together, he knew what to look for. Not a bunch of Sabbath clones. Sabbath was dead. Sabbath got blown off stage every night of their last tour by the opening band. And who was that opening band? Van HALEN.

So Ozzy says to himself, or maybe the voices in his head said to him... "Ozzy, that's the kind of band you need. Start with a guitarist."

And eventually, after auditioning every other guitarist in LA, finally Randy Rhoads shows up. The job is his.

And so another great duo and great band was born....even though the bass and drum positions would take a while to settle out... and sadly the whole thing would be over in about two years.

Ha! That post is chock full of high sprited man candy love.

RR would make my "Best Guitar Ever" list of dead people. Vaughn would be on there too.

Dave and Ed. Ed and Dave. The history between the two, add the history they created together, not too mention the colorful character of Dave, the TREND SETTING guitar skills of one Edward...

Im sorry what were you saying about the coke head and dead guy?

Too rough? Ok. The guy that didn't write his own lyrics and the guitar player most people never heard about. That's as nice as I get about two people that have nothing to do with VH. Not even close.

I doubt very much Ozzy was putting any of that together. He showed up. I assure you. But in no way was he aware of what he was looking for in a rock band. Ozzy's life has been a big puzzle. When he was moving the pieces around, it was fucked. Then a woman with dollar signs in her eyes, came along and started re-piecing him.

There's no denying the grateness of Randy Rhoads and Ozzy. Funny you put 'em in that order. As far as the dynamics go, it's an interesting parallelium. Sharon & Ozzy used to put out a casting call for guitarists'. IMO, Brad Gillis did a stand-up job filling in for the recently-departed Rhoads. So much, in fact, that people went, "fuck!! when did Randy Rhoads get his hair permed?" To be fair, I tried to explain that wasn't Randy Rhoads after the show....I didn't know who the fuck it was, but I knew Randy Rhoads was dead. I guess maybe the aspect of human finality is what drives this swirling vortex of Van Halen opinionation.

                        NOBODY'S FUCKING DEAD!!!

I mean, to logistically argue the aspect of dead people's viability, as opposed to living ones', is an excercise in futility!! Think about it! Eddie Fucking Van Halen was ALIVE @ Dimebag's funeral...right beside Zakk Wylde!!! Make no mistake, Sharon & Ozzy hired Zakk Wylde after a casting call. Zakk Wylde was sucking on a pacifier when Eddie Van Halen got tired of renting a motherfucking public address unit!!

Therein lies the irony my friend.

Ozzy & Sharon put out casting calls due to a legendary guitarist being dead.

Van Halen put out casting calls due to a legendary frontman not being available.

                        Available.....

                        Welcome to the swirling vortex!
