It's not about skills. It's about musicality, feeling, creativity and funky groove.

"Girl Gone Bad" (Mike's triplets are horrible)
"Panama"(was he sleeping during the bridge?)
"Hot For Teacher" (where's the walking?)
"Drop Dead Legs" (boom boom boom again)
"Where Have All the Good Times Gone" (one guitar playing riff is enough)
"LittleGuitars" (beautiful song, dull bass)
"Mean Street" (Ed's playing funky, but where's the groove, Mike?)
etc...

And if this is correct, I'm going to say that it would eventually prove to be a trainwreck on par with the new "singer" they got in 1985.

You just don't mess with perfection. And whether you choose to agree or not, those 4 guys playing together is perfection; pure magic. You change one ingredient and they become just another band.

The band would be different, but how do you know it'd be worse? I hope it'd be better. You know, a glass may be half-empty or half-full. And please don't compare changing a bass player to changing a frontman.

I'm saying Classic Van Halen is the sum of the players. Doesn't matter which member it is - bass player, frontman, drummer, etc.

You lose one and you lose the magic.

I love hamburgers. I put ketchup on my hamburgers. But I like the taste of grape jelly better than the taste of ketchup. But I would never put grape jelly on a hamburger.

Do you believe in magic? I don't. During the 20 years of Van Halen's non-existance (or other incarnations) the world has changed, the music has changed, even we have changed. I watched the US Fest dvd. That is the shit! Ed was all smiles and all of the band members where having the time of thier lives!!! I can not see it any other way!! We need the classic line up to get that vibe they had. It makes me happy to see how they were. I hope it will be that way soon. I am a di-hard fan and it hurts me to see how long this is taking to get the shit together. Dammit!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BUT I WILL WAIT IT OUT AS LONG AS IT TAKES!
