After 6 years the VH brothers managed to assemble 3 whole songs to pad out ANOTHER greatest hits package, followed by another tour which promises EVEN MORE OLD SONGS than ever before!

Wasn't the reason EVH gave for NOT hooking back up with Dave being he didn't want VH to be seen as an nostalgia act?

Isn't Michael Anthony a sap for eating the shit sandwich the VH brothers have been serving him for years? Mike, you gotta couple bucks in the bank - do your own thing.

Wasn't Cherone the last singer or Ed's pickin' up the tuba?

The VH brother's are doing more retreading than Gene (I'll never get sick of Deuce, and neither will you) Simmons.

I thought this whole Sam vs. Dave thing was settled by the 2nd verse of Shyboy in '86...

The whole nostalgia reasoning in 1996 was just one of many excuses the sisters threw out there ("the 1996 Dave isn't the 1984 Dave", "he couldn't pull off MWM live", etc.) in an attempt to put a spin on the whole Roth reunion deal and disguise what it was all about.

Ed and Al brought Dave in to help sell more copies of BOV1, and never intended to do anything beyond that.

The fallout from the 1996 debacle has left the sisters with few options left. Bringing in a fourth singer really isn't viable. They've squandered their fan base by their own inactivity.

Doubt even Dave could light a fire under Van Halen's ass now.

problem is Ed is trying so hard not to be a nostalgia act he cant see thats all he can become at this stage of his career.

Ed cant seem to get anything straight he says. like sammy comming back isnt nostalgia ? after 20 years name a band that old that is not. its unavoidable! it comes with the territory.

so against his wishes and by his own hand he has still become a nostalgia band with sammy and without dave. difference is dave would have no problem selling out every event!!!!!!!!!!!

Dave's last couple of tours were his way of proving (to the sisters) he could still sing those songs if THE call came. Why he didn't play more of his solo stuff is beyond me. I would have preferred it actually.

As far as defining a nostalgia act, I am again referring to Ed's excuse for not hooking up with Dave again.

The classic stuff is what everyone wants. This summer's audiences will be comprised of 15% who will be satisfied even if Sammy farts into the mic for 2 hours, another 15% who will be so wasted they won't know the difference what band is playing, and the rest walking away wishing Dave was there.

Another best of CD, radio spots and airplay highlighting the classic era, and now Hagar claiming to be up for doing more Roth songs (and breakfast, lunch, dinner, between meal snacks...)? They are selling this whole deal on the strength of classic VH. They're doing everything BUT getting Dave back in the band to generate interest--it's very underhanded and it sucks.

Dave is Dave, he is what he is and was what he was. The baddest ass frontman of ALL-TIME.
Some people forget that he is the mold by which all other frontmen were made of in the day, but not me my brothers and sisters in Roth, not me.
