Ok . .what the FUCK happened?!

I know the size of the picture is shit, but you all know what it looks like.

    A Gat-Damn Sea of people.

Imagine if Van Halen got back with Roth?
I might be a dreamer, but I believe that they could do a show like this again. If everyone was in the right frame of mind [ie: NOT hating other band members] It'd be the biggest fucking rock and roll reunion ever. So what do they do? They go back with Sam.

Did they ever do a show the size of this? Ever? Even in the apex of the Sam era?
Served hot, right from the rhythm kitchen.

I think that is when they opened up for the Rolling Stones. But not 100% sure.

When Van Halen was young, before they were famous, they busted ass to develop a following, and then they gave the fans 110%. Dave drove the boys harder than hell and never ever lightened up. They were all on the road to major burn out. I think it was right for them to split when they did, and I think they are better men and musicians for having gone their own ways and explored there own diversities. At least they are all still alive. However, they should have ironed their shit out back in 1996. They failed to do so. Again in 2000, they had a shining opportunity-but were unable to get their act together. I don't think there is only one person to blame. The thing is that IF they still have THIS chance to work the magic one last time, this is their last chance. And any more, I am not real sure how much of a chance that is. There is no motiviation like hunger. In the mid 70's, those boys were hungry. Now-they have been everywhere and done everything. The drive is absent. They have had the satisfaction of hearing their music everywhere they go... the fast cars, the gorgeous babes beating down their doors, the endless party, the money trip, the power trip-what the hell is left to inspire them to the greatness they once had?

The picture is from 1981 at the Orange bowl!
They opened for the Stones on the still life tour!
This info is on Dave's book!

US Festival, 1983. 350000+ people. Headliners with a 1.5 million dollar paycheck @ the end. Not bad for 90 minutes of fun.

I first saw Van Halen live in 1977 in a small club venue where they played the night for $500 "full turnkey". Amazing musicians, all 4 of them. Ungodly loud...they didn't just play to the crowd, they slammed their music in your face for two hours and made ya listen!

                            --------------

Here's a cool mid 70's pic of Eddie complete with those white patent leather shoes again. Look at the neck on his guitar. It's a piece of crap...looks like he found it in the trash somewhere and it had been left in the rain for a week!
