I just got my copy in the mail today. What an annoying read. Matt Fuck kept chiming in after everything Ed said. But the fuck out. "We developed"...."our ideas".....bullshit. Quit riding Ed's coat tails.

He got kind of rude it seemed when pressed about the classic VH sound with EL34s. Prick

Ed gives no credit to the Marshall he played...."it could have been any amp"...bullshit, what a bag of shit.

In the past he has always said he didn't need an amp with a clean channel. He just turns the guitar down. Now he claims the new amp has Fender cleans. Why? he doesn't need it. The article was a pretty big turd.

Had a feeling the article wouldn't contain much in the way of information I'd actually want to know, and was just gonna be an excuse for Ed to plug some gear.

Have no doubt there is some talentless yuppie with more money than ability out there right now playing a 30K Frankenstein through EVH amps, with a couple of EVH foot pedals right now as we speak, trying to nail down the intro to Unchained.

I'll admit had this gear come out in the mid 1980s I probably would have thought it was pretty neat, but what's the point, really? Eddie clones, even the better ones back in the day, were always a bit tiresome.

I haven't read it yet, but Matt has forgotten more about guitar gear than you or I (or anyone in the Army) will ever know.
He worked for a major LA studio rental company for years before he became Ed's tech.

Ed hypes it all to the heavens. Oh Musicman makes the best guitars, the Peavey 5150 just shits all over every other amp out there, then when he's done with these companies, he rips them. The last tour Eddie and Alex were throwing coniption fits that radio interviewers were asking Sam and Mike about their tequila and hot sauce. They got lawyers and proceeded a cease and desist. Meanwhile Ed has all his EVH shit on stage and is promoting the EVH art guitars during the tour. Yeah, like Mikes hot sauce and Sammy's tequila are going to get in the way of EVH sales. The guy is a control freak and a prick.

A friend of mine who knows a Peavey sales rep said the company was almost relieved when the whole EVH/Peavey relationship fell apart. They said Eddie was pretty cool at first but then when a relationship had been established he started to become a prick. He said the company made a lot of stuff that never went to market because Ed would change his mind or lose interest. I guess why Eddie broke with Peavey is Hartley brought Joe Satriani aboard and was designing gear for him. Ed got mad and left. That's what I heard.

I always wondered why Ed never talked or was even at interviews. It was always Dave and sometimes Alex. Dave made that band a lot more colorful than it was.

Actually having anything to do with EVH can make you a laughing stock or catch shit. Someone looked at my peddle board and saw the EVH Phase 90 and the striped painjob on it and smirked and said, oh, that's the little magic box than makes you sound like Van Halen. He said Van Halen in a very stoner voice in a mocking way.

Nobody cares about that band and if they are mentioned, people joke about the disfunction. They have become a joke.

Ed hit his peak in 1984. He just plays the same guitar solo, the same licks, and now just makes noise anyone can do. He's fried. Who cares about him. He did it all to himself and ruined his band in the process.

I was disappointed about the article too. My friend has a subscription to the magazine and was telling me how there's really nothing worth talking about in there. I don't think anyone expected anything more than that though....the tour is obviously not happening this summer, so there's no need to talk about that. If they were even thinking about a reunion they wouldn't mention it until it was final anyway. There's alot of hatred for EVH here, and I don't think all of it is called for. No one's a saint, I'm just relieved he's looking normal again.
