Even i have to admit the GW article & cover story was weak.
I bought it last night at B&N, and felt like Edward is more a business enterprise than a kid who got all his best sounds with his hands, like he used to.
His tone has de-volved in my opinion, and it kills me to say that.
After 1984, it was the end of that brown sound, the end of Ed just playing "off the cuff" like in Girl Gone Bad & House of Pain.
Everything became almost sterile & over processed.
Every solo (besides 5150 & AFU) just had him tapping away on autopilot.
He became another member of Foreigner or something, post-84.

I see what you mean, this is why I avoid modern music, VH or otherwise. Not that all music becomes bad, but even Meatloaf's latest release sounds like the same garbage modern rock that my friends listen to, with the exception of him being a better vocalists than the vocalists of the crap bands they listen to. I dunno, I'm gonna live in bubble where I choose to believe EVH isn't a sellout and its still '78 and Sammy Hagar is dead...now that sounds good.

My favorite Meatloaf is the vocals he did on half of Ted Nugent's second record, "Free for All."
Meat did a great job on there, along with Derek on one track (Dog eat Dog) and sweaty Teddy.

After reading the opinions those who had read the interview, I must say a reunion tour looks unlikely next year. I must say I was one of many who thought he'd share a bit of light on the reunion. The fact he has said he will comment on his rehab in the future will not happen, that's a ploy to keep us interested. Dave being quite, could be a sign that he's desperate to make things work and following orders, or waiting on Mike to be called back in, or he's so pissed off about the whole situation that he doesn't want to be a part of this melodrama anymore, I hope he hasn't fallen into some kind of depression, cos his silence spooks me

            DLR tell us something!

True but don't forget those companies made TONS of money off of EVH's name. It works both ways.

He treats his suppliers just like band members. Then at NAAM he goes, I'm finally working with a company that gets it. What the fuck? Eddie. I thought Musicman and Peavey were doing it right. What the hell. You condradict yourself bub.

It basically was a several page ad for EVH's new gear......

a total scam...typical of those sychophants at GUITAR WORLD....

Understood that GuitarWorld is a mag for guitarists, not a gossip rag, and that there were bound to be questions about whatever new gear Ed is putting his name on, but to not even ask the guy ONE SINGLE question about the state of the band and the future of Van Halen (with Roth at the helm or otherwise) is just pathetic.

Guess Ed wanted a safe forum to launch his new product line without any potentially tough questions asked, and he sure as shit got one. Wouldn't have thought there was still a market out there that would fork over money for some familiar red, black and white stripes, a non-interview and a transcription of Jamie's Crying, but then again what the fuck do I know?

With all the VH tab books and tab sites out there, does GW even NEED to bother with any tabbed transcriptions of Van Halen?

Probably not...but they probably needed to think of something to fill in the space where any real news should have gone.
