This whole Wolf/Mike thing has become an illness for many. And God heard the voice of the lad. Then the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said to her, “What ails you, Hagar? Genesis 21:17 -

I like arenas better anyway. The light show has more impact. I saw the
Stones in a Stadium once and they actually came on before the sun went down. Totally fucked up the excitment of the house lights going down, you know?Comment

Dave was never a fan of Stadiums.
Wasn't one of the reasons he bailed is because the brothers wanted to tour less and do stadium shows?sigpicRoth Army CanadaComment

Yeah, but the difference in crowd size and being outside turns a concert into a larger than life event. I've seen The Stones 3 times, all in stadiums.
As for VH, I'll be there if they're playing in a barn.Comment

Mike Anthony is part of the real van Halen. I swear, man! Really! Here, it's a little blurry but see for yourself...
Mike is missed in this intro, but he's in there. Hear him?:D

Mike is not spotlighted in either vid, but he's there, right? Right. I am sick over this bullshit. So close, but so very far away.
Van Halen is:
David Lee Roth
Eddie Van Halen
Alex Van Halen
Mike Anthony
There is no substitute.
God Bless Wolfgang Vanhalen and his future.
THANK GOD ROTH IS BACK!!!!!!!!!!
(fingers still crossed)
Oh, and about the studiums...Everyone is gun shy with this whole thing. Smaller venues are going to be AWESOME, JACK!Last edited by VanHalener; 08-11-2007, 01:58 PM.~Only you can prevent low volume~Comment

The same promoters do arena and stadiums. Did promoters back off Pink Floyd with no Roger Waters? Metallica with 3 different bassists? Guns and Roses? The biggest liabilty in recent rock history? No. Promoters see $$$$. And you know what? As much as we piss and moan about getting fucked by VH the past 23 years and how Ed's an asshole, etc, etc, we'll still fork over our paychecks for nosebleeds. And the promoters know that. So to answer you question, No.When the shit hits the fan, close your mouth and duck.Comment

I'd rather see arenas played too. Arenas were made for band like VH.
I don't know if VH can pull off a whole tour of stadiums, but they could surely do very well in the big city stadiums (esp LA) and if they add some big name openers.
The Police are doing a few stadium gigs this year. The Stones are the kings at that. I'm a Stones frreak! Out of the 12 times since 1989 i saw 7 in the stadiumsComment

Van Halen wouldn't be filling stadiums (let's say 50,000 + as a benchmark) even if Anthony were there.
Only time they really ever did was when they were at the top of a bill that had a LOT of other name acts on it (a la the US Fest or the Monsters of Rock tour).
It's not to say they might not want to try, but I think there'd be more than a few empty seats if they did.
I have doubts they could even fill a 20,000 seat arena for a two-night stand these days, outside of maybe LA.
This ain't 1996 anymore. A decade plus of time has elapsed, and the activity that has transpired under the name Van Halen during that time hasn't exactly built on the frenzy people had to see the CVH lineup in 1996.
I'd say safe money would bet they could fill 15,000-20,000 seat halls for one night shots in each venue long as the ticket prices are reasonable. Maybe multi-nights or a couple of stadium gigs if they hit the road with one or two established acts.
The die-hards may not wanna face it, but broad-based interest in the band has waned.Scramby eggs and bacon.Comment

That and the fact that these days there are very few bands who can fill stadiums.
As far as I'm concerned, filling 15-20000 seaters every night is quite a success after 23 years away and pissing off your fanbase. The Power Of The Riff Compels MeComment
