I've heard several people state things like...

Mike cared about the fans. (hey no argument from me on that)

Mike was the nicest of the members. (again, I don't disagree)

Mike was a major contributor to the Van Halen sound. (Vocals only folks...he's a good bassist overall, but he was told what to play, or Eddie pulled a Jimi Hendrix and played the bass parts on a lot of that stuff)

Mike was in the band 30 years, and shouldn't be treated this way. (agreed!! However, he's squeaked out of being fired a couple of times...even back before Dave quit. Ed was bitching about MA's lack of contributions as far back as Fair Warning. Plus, we all know that Billy Sheehan was asked to join somewhere around the Fair Warning era or just before.)

Yeah, I do think it sucks that this isn't a full on reunion. However, the band is not calling it that, so for once they are speaking the truth. :D We'll know soon enough just how good this "new band" is.

Heh...Well honestly, there wasn't much to post about, VH wise, in the past several years but now there is. Don't worry, I'll hit a show as soon as one pops up a little closer.

You know part of me wants to see this in case it's a disaster, and the other part of me wants to see it in case it is incredible. :D

I hear you and good on you. I'm glad you're somewhat stoked for this like the majority of us. :D

Regardless, it's nice to talk shop with you outside of the gear forum.

It looks like Mike and Sam forgot to remove this before going out that night.

And God heard the voice of the lad. Then the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said to her, “What ails you, Hagar? Genesis 21:17

Because I saw Mikey perform for VH concert after concert for years and heard NONE of you complaining then...Mikey is a solid performer, can play the shit out of the bass and deserves some respect from life long VH fans...Just because EDDIE is pissed at Mikey for having a LIFE A CAREER, does not mean I am going to turn on the guy...I dont like Sammy in VH but I dont begrudge Mike working with him because they both GET IT...Its about the fans...They love playing and they bring fans in...
                Just my opinion
Mikey had a hell of a lot more 'belligerent enthusiasm' than spEd did when I saw 'em in 1984...

You pussies bangin' on Mike for not getting a call will never see the real Van Halen without him; nor will they sound anything like the six-pack without his backing vocals..

                But have fun:

A.) singing along to fill in (LOL)

B.) Listening to the back-up track of Al, Ed, and Wolfie harmonizing like a barber shop quartet (**chuckle**)

                P.S. Who hired Sammy Hagar?

I already stated why I went to those shows and people here know how I feel about Hagar. Spin it however you want if it makes you feel good.
