OK, finished it up on the flights back home yesterday....

Overall, I have to say that it's really unfair for diehard CVH fans to comment on this book.

I know I've seen at least 95% or so of the band's videos, interviews, magazine articles, and whatever else since VH I. Can I prove that ?? Of course not, but there's not very much nowadays that I can honestly say that I've never seen before.

So let me put it like this...

For the average rock fan, who liked Van Halen back in the day but wasn't a fanatical idiot like us, this will be a good read. It goes back to the beginning, pre-Van Halen, and provides a lot of detail. It points out the highlights and the lowlights, and tries to explain the details behind the various breakups.

And I will admit that there were a handful of things that I wasn't aware of. I won't say what they were, as a courtesy to those of you who still want to read the book.

But for diehards, the majority of quotes I can distinctly recall remembering the interview or article where they said that....

So again, it's a good book. I certainly won't knock on it....

Agreed. I just started reading it today and have only put about 50 pages behind me so far, but it's interesting to see some of the innocuous little tidbits....like the potential origins of Eddie's drinking and smoking habits....

A friend loaned me the book ...but I may have to go buy a copy for my personal archives.

I got the book this past Tuesday, finshed the sucker within 10 hours. It was a really entertaining read but like pretty much everyone else said this book isn't for the typical Van Halen know it all, although I thought some of the Sammy stuff was quite interesting.
