Well, Dave and Eddie are older now and it was over 20 years ago.

Anyone who has seen Dave solo lately knows what to expect, but everyone one who is going and thinks they are going to see the same band as they did in the 1980's will be disappointed.

Go and expet to see a kick ass concert from the best rock band of all time.

It can be different, but still be good - it CAN'T be like it was in 1984, and any attempt to replicate it would ultimately fall short.

However, if they embrace their pasts and their present then we could still be in for a good show.

Yea but Wolfgangs 15, so 20-15= 5, so the band is really only 45 when you seperate the 15 among evenly the three original members. lol
When you think of Van Halen you think of David Lee Roth.

Saw them in 84 also and it kicked the snot out of anything they did with the Hagar years. Lets be realistic, its 20 plus years later. You probably will not see a hell of alot of onstage jumping around but you will get some quality music. These guys have been rehearsing since last October. Prince was on top of his game back in 84 and he put on a great performance at the Super Bowl. The Stones are still getting away with it, Aerosmith, Kiss, The Police. All bands longer in the tooth than VH that are still touring. Give VH a break, they will deliver, there is just to much at stake and they know it. When you get down to it, it is just 4 guys getting out there and playing some music, damn good music.

Too much time has passed for it to be the same.

One thing though....Roth should be able to remember the words now.
I expect Roth's singing to be much better...I found his style to be lazy in the old VH boots.

                  Eddie....we will see.

Hope they'd concentrate on playing more songs for the buck, and have less of an emphasis on lengthy solo spots like they did in 1984...

Far as I'm concerned, the lengthy drum and bass solos can just be laid by the wayside, and that has little to do with MA not being there. Just a waste of concert time, and while AVH is a good rock drummer the dude never really did anything with his live drum solos that was essential.

Last several solo Roth tours displayed Dave singing much more of the verse lyrics than he did for the last couple of tours the first time around with Van Halen, so there's no reason to think that couldn't apply to this one. Think y'all know the choruses, and considering what the ticket prices are, if you aren't shouting them out with enough volume and enthusiasm to drown out the P.A., well, why bother going?

Doubt Dave is gonna be doing any splits off of a 8 ft. high drum riser. Hasn't been for a while, and unless he's been saving that up for this reunion, well, that's a bygone relic of yesteryear. Dude still has mobility, far as conjuring up what was done way back when goes...hey, it ain't gonna be some 60 year old 250lb. blimp with a goatee waddling around onstage in yellow baggy gym clothes, looking like an impregnated banana.

Ed is the wild card, agreed, but if Ed just wasn't up to it, one has to believe that despite how badly Roth wants this, he's not gonna go onstage an be part of something that ultimately proves to be embarrassing.

'84 is not the holy grail as far as classic VH lives shows went. It seemed they had lost the musicianship edge and were more interested in the visual...Still better than 99% of whats ever been on a stage anywhere else though. I have a feeling 2007 will be better musically than '84 ever was. Between '80 and '83, nothing beats them, and nothing will ever beat 'em..

Three time witness to the comeback of the MIGHTY VAN HALEN. And then they faded back into obscurity.
