I was lucky enough to of seen VH eight times with Dave. My opinion is that as a live band the '81 and '82 tours will never be touched by any band of any kind. Both musically and showmanship wise those tours had it all. The '84 tour was visually impressive but at least in Seattle, Portland, and in all boots I have seen, not even in the same class as the two prior to it. This 2007 tour will be great if for no other reason than they know people will be waiting for them to fuck it up. Much the same as Van Hagar in '86 (don't think for one minute that i have an ounce of liking for the shit that was Van Hagar.....) but they went out every night on that 5150 tour trying to prove to people they were the shit. This new version of Van Halen will be doing the same. Older, so what. It will be different than it was for sure, but it will be a great tour!

Back then we loved VH but took them for granted: they were there all the time, ya know?
Now we've waited so long for this that I bet it will feel better than ever. I never got tears in my eyes back then, but I fully expect it to happen the next time I see them hit the stage.Comment

the music will be stellar...the showmanship i dont much care about since i know it wont be the same when i saw them for the first time in 1980...Ed and Dave jammin together.....AHHHHComment

I think there will be some jumps and splits, but don't expect to see a lot of it, I think we will see a better performance from Dave musically, in 1983 and 1984 his concentration wasn't fully on the show.
He was drunk and thinking about the after show party and what girls to give backstage passes to.
The 2007 Dave is sober with his whole heart and mind in the show.Comment

Dave himself claimed it was going to be better than ever. And if it's not I'm going to criticize the fuck out of them from then til forever.
If Dave lied about he's as big a piece of shit as the sisters.
And he told us to judge harshly.Comment

AGREE....Like there is any other answer!Originally posted by DLRISVH7884
the best rock band of all time.
Ed and Dave back on stage together. Thats all that matters to me anyways. As for the showmanship, I have a feeling we are going to see a slimmed down version of the circus that once was but I know Dave and Ed will make it entertaining. Musically I think its going to be on the mark, especially Ed's playing. I get the sense the guy is looking to redeem himself musically especially considering the sad state of affairs over the last 15 years or so (or should that read 22 years?).
Can't wait for the show baby! YEAH !
