I'll agree with that, and will agree that Vai, while what he plays does little for me, is technically a great player. Ed, like Hendrix, was a great songwriter AND highly innovative.

Don't know if it was an example of Vai being so much of a 'class act', as that implies a degree of humility not in porportion to his talent, but it's really just Vai telling it like it is.

I don't play guitar so I'm sure it's a lot different for me then to someone who plays but I love Vai. I can't tell you the technicle reasons or anything like that, all I can say is it sounds good to me.

I do realize Eddie did things that werent done before but I really couldnt tell you the tech terms for it. I like it, and I like Vai, just joe public speaking I guess

Vai seems like a good guy, a friend of mine works for ibenez and was meeting with him. He mentioned that I was a fan so vai signed a pic for him to give me. Between that and what hes said here about Eddie puts him in the good guy catagory to me.

I’d like to if I can get tickets. It’s a hard ticket to get.

I think you know the right people who can help you out.
No, I don’t want to ask anybody for tickets. But I’ll probably go. I’m a fan of Edward’s [Eddie Van Halen]. He’s an historical legendary guitar player who changed the face of rock guitar playing, and I can count on one crippled hand the amount of people who have done that. And I am not one of them.

Steve Vai has always been complimentary towards Dave post EEAS.

He (and teacher Joe for the matter) are great talents, but he fully realizes that he isn't in the same league as Ed, SRV, Jimi, etc. for the reasons he stated.

He's always seemed quite grounded in reality to me and he gives Dave major props for first getting his name out there and mentioned in the same breath as Ed's.

Steve Vai is a class act and one hell of an axe slinger, I just never cared for his tone. A buddy of mine lent me a G3 dvd featuring Satch, Vai and a fat bloated Yngwie. I realize music is not a competitive sport, but Vai was on fire and smoked them both.

Steve "Jack Butler" Vai has allways been one of my favorites since the first time I saw him on MTV playing that flame guitar making it talk.
