Thanks for the good feedback guys, I was in Section 232 Row S. Really enjoyed the seats being right over the stage it felt like!

Unfortunately thats all the footage I could get, just snuck in a hand camera that can record about 8:00 of video. I took a lot of pics tho so I could only record 5:40ish.

Did anyone else find it odd they didnt do a security check this show? I was nervous about getting caught with the camera they didnt even use the metal wand or anything, friend brought in bottles of beer. was pretty crazy.

              Band sounds great though.
Dave sounds great and Ed is doing fine. You are right, he's not playing as energetically as he used to but the man has been through a lot. He's lucky to be alive. I think that's why he plays a Wolfgang and tends to be in the higher gain channel on the song. The Wolfgangs have higher output pickups and the high gain channel makes it to wear you can get the same dynamics and harmonics without working so hard. Ed's cheating but it still sounds fine.

If he was playing his old Frankenstrat and Marshall rig, he would really haved to play the shit out of it and whack the guitar strings. It sounded great but that old rig required very strong hands and was unforgiving of anything less than the best playing.

The new rig Ed is using is more forgiving. I think once he found out how easy it was to play a Soldano he got hooked. The 5150 III amps sound more Marshally than the Peavey ones though.

I can't imagine Ed playing what he did in 1978. His guitar had the strings wound in reverse with an oiled brass nut with enlarged string slots. The strings would litteraly come out of the nut slots if Ed didn't put his finger behind the nut when he hit open strings! This was all to keep that old style Fender tremelo in tune.

Can you imagine him trying to wrestle that kind of guitar now? He couldn't play that old guitar and Marshall rig now. It would be a pooch screw. It sounded great in the day though. That is what he used on the first VH album.

The EVH Art Guitar he is playing sounds nice! Nice and crunchy through that flanger at the end. :D

Yeah, the wife and I were quite shocked at the ease of security - I would have brought in a camera - but didn't want to lose it by getting some security nut trashing it ..... walked right in the building - walked right up to the ticket gate - got the tix scanned - then the guy told us quickest way to our seats... that was it... didn't even look in the wife's purse - nothing. I could have carried in anything... wish I would have.
All is finally right with the world - Van Halen has finally gotten back together.

Gotta believe it is tough to play with your finger behind your nut ;-)

It is hard to play the solo to Somebody Get Me A Doctor any better than Ed did on that video.

I hope more rust is gone by the time they play in LA!!!
