    CVH record sales

Last night, hubby and I were discussing the show (again). We're both pretty enamoured at this point.

But hubby asked an interesting question:
Wonder what's happening with CVH record sales as a result of this tour?

Now, I wanna know how to find out!

I was at Wal-mart yesterday and browsed through the cd's. CVH was there and marked at $11.44 per album. "Women and Children first", VH I, VH II, and 1984. With one lone copy of "5150".

So obviously, the stocking of shelves has happened.

How do we find out if the album sales have increased, by how much, and which albums are the selling the best?

Speak wif someone who has access to Soundscan numbers.

You have to have a subscription, and must be a retailer or industry person to have one.

I used to have a billboard membership and could look up any album sales. VH1 & 1984 still sell at a steady pace yearly, I'd say roughly 50,00 to 100,000+ each year on top of the 10+ million they have already sold with those cd's each. I'm sure the tour wil help that cause.

1984 and VH1, each sold more then 25 million worldwide. I think everybody attending the shows have all the albums already...
How is airplay in the US these day?

I was talking about sales in the US, that's all that matters anyways.

You don't think that worldwide sales are important?

Yeah, everyone would rather be bigger in the States. Having said that, the rest of the world allows artists to sell a LOT of records.....

In the Los Angeles & San Diego markets they've always been played a lot. However they have been getting more airplay since the reunion was announced. And more obscure songs instead of just Panama & Jump.

Minneapolis is Van Halen friendly on the radio. Maybe that's why Roth has been here so many times in the last 12 years of so.

Not everyone who's gone on this tour will have the albums. And even some of those who do, could decide to upgrade to cds or even just purchase the albums again re-mastered or what-not.

Album sales are likely to go up again, I wish someone would do an article about it.

I noticed the local Target, which only previously would carry the 'Best of(s),' is now carrying "1984" and seemed to be almost sold out (I only saw like two copies left)...

The first Best Of is still a good seller, while 1984, VH 1 and FW do well based on the songs that each album provides. (According to a WalMart employee) lol

He did say that when a band goes on tour, the record co. pushes the "most likely to be sold albums" during that period of time.

                              Thenagain...This comes from a 20 somethin' wal-mart employee so... u know...
