I like Human Beings becuase it is so different. But it is one of those songs that has to grow on ya, IMO.
Ed needs to do a REAL interview.......

Any guitar mag isn't the right forum for an interview that asks the tough questions. GUITAR WORLD concentrates most of their Ed pics and tabs firmly on the classic era, then surrounds them with softball questions for EVH.
But even if an interviewer came out and said to Ed, "There's a lot of people out there who think the band's best work was done when Roth was in the band. More people by far bought the classic era records than any other. What would you say to those people who don't care for the music you make with Hagar, and think you peaked as a guitarist and rock songwriter decades ago?"
Not like Ed's gonna go, "By God, You're right!" It's gonna be the usual, "I'm in therapy and live my life for myself Al and I make music to please ourselves fist Dave is all washed up" routine.Scramby eggs and bacon.Comment

Yes, he should do a real interview. How about a 20 Questions With interview for metal-sludge.com? That's a very deep and thoughty interview (sarcastically speaking).

But, the point we're all missing here is Eddie hasn't said ONE bad thing about Dave since the 2000 sessions.I like to pay close attention to the things I'll forget later...Comment

Even Ed and Al in their denial of the classic period remember the backlash they got after they talked trash about Dave in 1996. Was only compounded and made worse when VH3 bombed and Roth came out serving up the classics.
That GUITAR WORLD interview was just total Eddie-loving bullshit. Knew it from the start when it opened with an introduction supposedly penned by Ed himself.
"Without me, there is no Van Halen, because it starts with me."
EVH 2004
More than half the interview focuses on Eddie assuming control of production in Van Halen, and how much he's learned in terms of getting the sound he wants out of his studio and equipment (after listening to "It's About Time", I guess he's referring to learning how to press the RECORD button on a 4-track tape player).
"Van Halen is back. Me, Alex, Sammy and Mike."
EVH 2004
Only thing Van Halen have left to offer is a classic reunion. The new track is weak even by Van Hagar's own lackadasical standards. The media doesn't care anymore. Sam and Dave's tour in 2002 got more media exposure from their press conference ANNOUNCING that tour than Van Hagar have in the last 4 months of being officially reformed.
GUITAR WORLD is a safe haven for Eddie to say what he wants without confronting why Roth isn't in the band, or even be held accountable for the 180 he's pulled regarding what he's doing now versus his previous statements.
Ed seems to think Van Halen has undertaken a new beginning, but everything they're doing and the lack of energy they're doing it with signals the end.
Hard to imagine Halen is going out with a whimper, but here it is.Scramby eggs and bacon.Comment

No way Dave ever returns to VH IMO. Yes I know "never say never", especially when it comes to rock bands and $ but..........If this Sammy debacle is mega successful in the months to come(and we all know its not gonna be), then Ed will feel justified being in Zombie mode with the Spamster and stay with him. If it bombs he will go into seclusion and further waste away. Out with a whimper indeed.Comment
