Or if he wants to seriously go back to his roots and make music and tour like a serious musician would - like musicians far older than him do!

Certainly seems like he has been in a mode of essentially cashing in on CVH nostalgia for the last several years.

Little to indicate any sort of burning fire or desire regarding creativity.

Maybe he's just resigned in his own mind to the idea that the bulk of the public still interested in his career are primarily interested in what he did from 1978 to 1984, and what point is there for him to even bother with a new record label or putting new music out there if so many in the audience are mired in the past?

Probably easier to make home demos just the way he wants to make them, rather than compromise with producers, lead singers and the like...all of that requires more effort, and to what end?

Dude just has to slap an EVH logo on whatever and tour every few years to fill the coffers. Leaves him more time to sit around his home studio, get drunk and "noodle around." Path of least resistance.

That's part of the problem with most rock bands whose best music is behind them.

There are many bands who still churn out new stuff and tour playing new tunes mixed with old favorites.

However, its always the old gems that people get excited about hearing in concert moreso than new ones.

Case in point: Iron Maiden are finishing up their hugely successful 'Somewhere Back in Time' tour, which is basically a recreation of their 1984-85 stage show and song set. Why was it so successful?? Pure nostalgia and the fact that the music played from that era was just so much better than Maiden's recent, newer offerings.

New songs just make a set list fresh for a little while during a concert but then the minute a band plays an oldie, everyone goes crazy.

But if anything, new music from VH with Dave would be the most interesting thing to hear. I remember hearing Me Wise Magic on the radio for the first time and getting a big rush from it. It was such a high, incredible feeling.

Here's hoping we can get something like that or much better IF there is any new music to be had.

Thought MWM and CGTSNM showed a lot of promise in terms of the band going on from those two songs as a starting point in 1996 towards a full-length album the following year that could have been killer.

I mean, about the only thing KISS couldn't get right from 1996-2000 was an album of great new material (Psychocircus sucked). In virtually every other aspect, those four years of the KISS reunion had the band giving the fans everything else they could have expected or wanted from a great reunion.

Van Halen in 1996/1997 could have done the same but with great new music, to boot!

There are virtually no reunions that have all the members of the definitive lineup participating where the band is able to still put on great shows AND come up with great new material. Deep Purple's Perfect Strangers album and tour is about the closest I've seen in terms of a reunited band actually making it on all three of those levels.

Perfect Strangers was only great DP reunion album, they tanked after that. Aerosmith did Back in the Saddle (oldies) tour before Done With Mirrors album, that had it's moments but was subpar. The next 2 (Permanent Vaca & Pump) were solid before the power ballads and formula took over.

But hey Eddie already has "10 albums worth of material" right?

He could stop by after his morning chores on Saturdays and lay down the bass tracks and backing vocals in a couple of hours. Have it done in no time...
            I just thought about something.

Wolf doesn't live with Ed. He lives with Val.

So, depending on how far Val lives from Ed, there may be some issues on how many times Wolf can make it down to 5150, especially during school.

look on wolfgang's myspace. valerie (yes that valerie) makes a comment about "you guys" being busy working. "you guys" refers to the band, whether it's wolf, ed, and alex. or possibly everyone including dave. eddie made some comments about roth in a guitar mag about the ball being in dave's court regarding a reunion. they were already working together. new music is here sooner than you think. bands are always keeping their fans on their toes. they are way ahead of us. wolf was in the band way before ed announced it.

Wolfgang graduates in June album work in the summer, nuff said. Don't know who wrote this article, but its garbage.
When you think of Van Halen you think of David Lee Roth.
