That band died the day Dave quit in 85 !! It wouldn't have been the same band in 1996, 2000 or 2007 !! Just the same face's.

Timeless music never dies... deal with it.

So if his kid can get the best out or them I say go for it. Bands change members all the time when the stay around along time.

Ed's best was last seen/heard in 1998... unfortunately Mr Rectum Tickler was fronting the band. Wolfgang did not bring out Ed's best... Sure he got his dad's lazy ass off the couch and the more or less off the bottle. But clearly this was not Van Halen's "best"... better and a step in the right direction, sure... but still short of the original real deal.

Ed is a great guitar player, but a liar for the most part. What's new ?? I still wonder why Dave want's to work with him.

There's really no other options for a decent paycheck and putting his ass on the big stage.

But what the hell, Dave and a good guitar player = good tunes. I'm selfish !! Bring it on !!

To his probable amazement VH comes back with Dave WITHOUT him!! Ha! And Mike was probably like ''....but...wait a minute..........fuck.....this wasn't supposed to happen... I am still the bass player.....NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!"

Hey, its completely reasonsable for Eddie to just go out and call Mike. But what the fuck for??? Mike made his feelings crystal clear to Eddie after the 2004 tour anyway by saying what a mess the tour was and what a fuckup Ed was on stage yada yada...not exact words but you get the point (and all true, but he was beating on the man while he was down -- kinda like a Hagar thing to do).

Add to the fact that he continued to play with Sam (ie: 2006's "The Other Half"), not once (by what is known) making any communication with the VH bros.

So, who should you REALLY be upset with?? Eddie? Maybe. But that's just too easy considering Ed's historical lack of social cohesiveness with fellow band members.

But some of you just completely FAIL to look to see the OTHER SIDE, that of one Micheal Anthony who made absolutely NO ATTEMPT post 2004 tour to want to play with the VH bros. again.

IMO, he didn't mostly because he felt there wasn't a band to play with anymore (Remember Sam's declaration that "Van Halen is dead"? I bet Mike felt the same way).

But then there's Ed, Dave, Al and Wolf up there on the stage press conference in 2007 announcing the tour which by all accounts completely BLINDSIDED Mike in more ways than one.

He didn't expect it and that's why he's bitching and moaning.

Let's also be clear here: I would prefer Mike to be the bass player for VH again with Dave. It sets things right in terms of a principle; that of the original band.

But at the same time I know that it won't be 1984 again either.

AND I understand, as I did in the 80s, just WHO was the most replaceable member of Van Halen.

That supports my argument concerning Mike and his recent remarks about saying he never quit.

Fact is, he continued with Sam because he never thought there would be a VH again. He never made any contact because of the state Eddie was in and clearly wanted no part of it.

Guess what Mike? You moved on and so did Eddie and Alex. So stop this fucking nonsense and bitching about Wolf replacing you or about saying you never quit. Yeah, you never said that but you never made any attempt to stay on either.

This was because Fat Mullet continued to socialise, with Hagar. This was seen as being disloyal, to Ed and Al!

Anthony later gloated, in the media,(1998) that he was the last to agree, to Dave recording the tracks, for best of ! Anthony told Ed and Al, that he would not tour with Dave!

Ed's unwritten and non-verbal displeasure with Mike goes back to the early 80s, before Hagar joined the band.

Not sure why he was displeased with him, but whatever. We are not privy to how these guys were with each other in the beginning or in the later years.

The best thing to happen with Mike was when Dave left 'cause if he stayed Mike would've gotten the boot sooner than later, IMO.

In Fat Anthony`s Burn magazine interview (2006) Anthony revealed that Van Halen had failed to make a new album with Dave on 3 occassions, between 2000/2001.
Anthony laughed at Dave`s ideas for new material, and blamed Dave`s ego, for failing to complete an album! He also mentioned that they could not even get it together, to play a few dates. Mullet claims, "again, Dave`s ego, just would not let it happen"!
