Really, I never heard one way or the other about Dave fighting for Bass Player or not. Was that just message board rumors or did Dave actually say that?

I think it's pretty safe to say that pretty much everyone that loves Classic VH wanted and still wants MA back in the band instead of running around at this time with this so call Chickenshit. I would say take the interview with a grain of salt. We as fans honestly don't really know the whole truth and probably never will. It really boils down to who said what at what time and whom do you want to believe. At this time, i really could care less and am excited to here that we are in store for some new music.

2 people told me a similar story about Dave wanting Mike for the reunion... but Dave's motivation wasn't 100% out of loyalty... he thought a tour with a 16 year old Wolfgang and not the 'original four' would be a joke and flop. Ultimately Ed won the Mexican standoff and Dave got on board. Now that the tour proved to be a success from a financial standpoint, I'm sure Dave couldn't give a rat's ass about Mike anymore.

Ed was; if I remember correctly, down in the deep end of the pool and he wouldn't get out.... 2004 post Sam reunion fiasco..Sam and Mike wanted to play some music Ed was in no shape ...Quit is too nice of a word they deserted Ed.

Ed was perhaps unresponsive to thier requests to get it together, they moved on..

Like that youtube where Ed falls down on stage and Sam and Mike walk over and start mock kicking him live...

They had no idea Ed would recover, they left him for dead.

Ed perhaps see's this, Perhaps, I am putting words in some other MF'rers mouth...hmmmm..?

If I was that down and my buds left me for dead I could fogive them, but forget ??...I would just put them out of my head and walk on.....

Sam and Mike have plenty of fans they are gigging making some bank ...WTF..

Past or Pasture ,Green fields good grazing over the next hill..

They Quit the band when they Quit Ed ...plain and simple.

I can dig Dave front and center and I can dig the son of the VH on Bass.

5 Bucks! sais they can rock and with last years tour behind him, Wolf is going to be alot more comfortable on the bass, and I am sure he will throw some of his own style into this new band.

Has he developed a style perhaps if we are lucky soon we will see.

Actually I think Mike fought against Dave on couple of occasions...

BTW, Do you remember the "Who believes a tour will still happen?" thread? It was the next day after RNRHOF fiasco. Some of us believed in the Reunion, some didn't (I did). Thankfully the vibes are much better now!
At that point a lot of people we doubtful but then a giant rabbit appeared at binnies house and all bets were back on...

Dave once claimed that Ed had the "spiritual spine of a chocolate eclair".
Perhaps Mike is the one who is spineless, because for all the lobbying he did for Sam to be in VH and for Dave to be kept out, he would have jumped head first (bad plugs and all) into a reunion with David. Actually, if Mike would have joined VH for this reunion with Dave I would have had zero respect for him as opposed to the little respect that I have for him now.

That makes total sense. I would of been worried too, if I was Dave.

Yea, but if Ed was as bad a portrayed (or worse) than leaving him for dead probably was the best (and last straw) thing to do. People have to want to, and all that good shit. If he holds a grudge for that, then he still has issues to work through..

                      Just sayin....

Damn... Thome's post really shed some different light on things for me.

Sam and Mike would have been happy to drive EVH's death mobile right into his grave as long as they could keep using Van Halen for free plugs for shitty booze and worthless condiments. During the last tour, be it the porn star GF, Alex, Wolf, David or any combination of the four... someone had the balls to say let's put this tour on hold until Ed can get his shit back together a bit and then we'll see if we can get it rolling again.
Sam and Mike really are scumbags if you think about it... shame on them!

Some good points made... but the Mike quit comments by Ed stink to high heaven of Ed's usual alcoholic psychotic, blame everyone else and play victim crap.

Sadly... if he is still sober... he's still playing the same pathological blame game that he's perfected and fine tuned since 1985.

Ed's comments seem to be just about right to me, they are kinda like when I am standing in line at the drug store and some loose lipped cashier, asks me how is everything going.......I usually say fine, all the while ..I want to say, -do you want the whole story or just the-, "fine & you" answer?
