So what Dave isn't there? Let them get the music straight.. Be patient.. VH is actually doing something!

They should all be there TOGETHER getting as into the music as much as possible. I don't want some quickly canned jukebox song. Give me the real heart and soul of =VH= with jam sessions you are all really into together.

      1) Have we forgotten???? EVH is still healing from the hand surgery - was done on the honeymoon...remember? This being only September.... He said himself that healing would take a few months, so let's assume he's practicing, so he doesn't screw up by the time they bring Dave in. I agree with VaIN... let them get the music straight first.

      2) Don't think for a second that the VH boys would not bring Dave back....after all, it was with DLR's presence that the tour grossed $96M...

I agree with you for sure.. I think it's cool that Eddie is playing and there is some communication with the fans. The fact that he named 3 great tunes doesn't hurt either. I think Eddie looks like he's in decent shape - all things considered - and the recent hand surgery makes me think he'll come back a-roarin with Dave at the wheel... Keep hope alive, brotha!

Consider the songs EVH mentioned were DLR-fronted....

EVH can either live the rest of his life off of whatever $ he earned on the last tour, but he has no future in the music business without the initials: DLR

Ticket prices skyrocketed because people can buy them with credit cards. If they had to pay cash only they wouldn't or couldn't pay the high prices. But they charge the ticket price because they have to see their favorite band and worry about paying for it later. In the 70's it was difficult to get a credit card and most people who went to concerts didn't have them. They paid cash.

This is a very good question even I know not - being a counter-ideological product of some 5th century Byzantine Jesuit faggot priests' war-room response to trade-route sapping by Arab nomads, I don't even exist technically speaking and I'm getting ready to clock out at 11:30 so I don't have the time or I'd ask his Creator for you.

I think it cost me $8 to see Van Halen in 1980. It was general admission and we skipped school and waited at the venue all day. We made a mad dash when the doors opened and were right on the baricade stage center. Enjoyed the show while smoking the pot my friend stole from his sister and drinking the booze my other friend stole from the bar at his dad's resort. I was only 14. Bought the ticket at one of those wonderful 1970's record shops that reeked of incense and sold bongs, hash pipes, T-shirts, posters and had the stoned hippie dude behind the counter.

As much as I love Girl Gone Bad & Drop Dead Legs (I really do), for me they never really transferred that well as live songs. Can't explain it very well. Just the type of songs that are tough for a band to do right live and are just better left on the cd. I don't know. Still would be cool to see it.

In 2005, I paid $35.00 to see DLR do VH (and a few DLR Band tunes) in Santa Cruz (Catalyst) - Fantastic Show! His performance was spot on and he gave the same quality performance as when I paid ($170.00) to see him hit the Charlotte, NC stage with VH's '07 Tour.

When DLR was playing the "2005 intimate venue tour", I read that he played an Oregon Fair for $15.00/ticket.... and I was happy paying only $35.00!!

I saw them in 1997 for $10. That did not include admission to the county fair. I left about 2/3 of the way through. I remember walking through the parking lot when I heard Panama. Was so sad because I love that song, yet I didn't care to even see them play it because of Cherone and the bad taste still from 1996 Dave fiasco.

Forward 10 years and I bought 4 tickets for $300. And enjoyed it so much I would have paid for more shows if I could have made it to them.

But it is lame when I look at my ticket stub collection dating back some 25 years and slowly watch the prices creep up. Through the 80's & 90's it was always just by a dollar or two. Since 2000 they have skyrocketed.

What should be obvious in all of this ticket scam stuff is the culpability of Irving Azoff. At the time, he was managing VH in an outfit that was partially owned by Ticketmaster. Apparently Azoff had a hand in this scheme, yet fast forward 18 months later and not only is he now the new CEO of Ticketmaster, but he speaks out against ticket rip-offs. I'm no legal beagle, but this sure gives the appearance of some form of corruption, one that is actionable by at least some Federal racketeering (RICO) statutes.
