i only made the joke 'cause it's not CVH and it's in main. i didn't hear the clip live, i had just gotten out of the Jeep after they did Feels Like The First Time and i was wondering if they were going to hit on the VHagar thing and/or Mick's solo album.

WB insisted on an outside producer. Templeman went with Dave, leaving VHagar without a producer. Ed wanted to produce 5150 himself, and Warners wasn't ready for that.

I had second thoughts, but what the hell....nothing else going on.

Will DLR speak out about which songs he'd worked through prior to Hagar shitting em? Or were the entire songlist DLR-workups?

Will we ever know? That is the entirety of all I give a crap to know about the Van Hagar band.

                Huh.

Thought the FUCK album had some of the best instrumental performances Van Halen gave on record after Roth left, myself.

The title track to 5150 had some good guitar work on it and good musical performances. Same goes for Summer Nights. When people talk about how the stuff Van Halen did with Sammy would have been so much better if only Dave had been singing instead...I don't really agree, but those two tracks are ones that could have had some more interesting results if Dave had a crack at them.

The music for AFU, Cabo Wabo, Black and Blue and Sucker In A Three Piece could also have perhaps benefitted from the Roth treatment.

Pleasuredome was a pretty good track.

Honestly can't remember that much about Balance now...listened to that maybe two or three times. I kind of vaguely remember Aftershock.

I agree, F.U.C.K. has some good stuff on it, but the recording sucks...

I bought 5150 when it came out, and the bigger shock was the poor tone and production of it. I actually took it back to the store and said it had something wrong with it and got my money back. too bad, some of the music is really good but damn the tone, or lack there of.

What do you expect? It was recorded in an old racquetball court. To be honest, Eddie went down to Warner Brothers and complained that the way they were mass burning CD's was thinning out the sound. He played a guy from Guitar World the master tapes at 5150 and then played a CD the customer buys in a store and the dude said it was night and day. Ed says Warner Brothers didn't give a shit and the final burning is done real sloppy.

I think F.U.C.K. was mixed by Andy Johns if I remember right.

Anyway, Ed should listen to this...

I wonder how Ed did the whammy sounding stuff at the end of the solo on this guitar...

Ed's full of shit. I bought 5150 on vinyl and the production was just as shitty. It had nothing to do with the CD burning. It had to do with Ted Templeman being absent, and Ed & Mick Jones not knowing what the fuck they were doing.

(aside from the crappy quality of the music itself, of course)

I didn't mind the sound of 5150 on vinyl except for the guitar being thin, and of course, Hagar...

But ed has a crappy way of remembering his history, if he remembers anything at all, I doubt it...
