Sorry. I misread your post. I do maintain, though, that there are very few fans of both Sam and Dave. It's like Andrew Dice Clay once said:

Either you suck dick - or you don't suck dick.

It's not the Dave fans that are the problem. I've never spent a penny on anything post-Dave, though I do admit that I've downloaded some mp3s out of sheer morbid curiosity, much like watching Faces of Death. It's the Air Supply/Journey fans that started listening when Hagar joined that have allowed this train wreck to continue. I don't think Eddie cares who is listening as long as someone is.
Did you even know of Hagar before Van Hagar? Montrose? Heavy Metal? When Hagar first came into the picture, it became a ballad-fest. 5150 and OU812 to be more exact. Not sure if either you're brain dead or just plugged your ears to fine music the past two decades but For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge AND Balance is got to be the heaviest VH has ever attempted. Songs like Pleasure Dome, Dream is Over, Seventh Seal, Aftershock, Feelin', Human Beings - heavier then what Roth can dream of. And I am a little confused here...you criticize Hagar for making the band as cheesy and sappy as Journey yet you claim 1984 is the holy grail of VH - have you even heard the song JUMP? I mean - what the fuck - there's some cheese for you. The most corniest 80's rock anthem/pop song ever to exist and be overplayed.

By the way, Hagar has created two Cabo Wabo's and his own brand of Tequila which I've actually spotted at Ch's-Chi's- formed a pretty good band (not as great as Montrose or his 70's solo career but close to it), has a family of his own, does his typical antics against VH but also MOVES ON. What has Dave done? Was actually with a guitarist that could be debated BETTER then Eddie himself, created countless cheesy videos and covers, arrested horribly for drugs, created this WTF home video, and is considered by most - a laughable has-been, compared to today's version of GNR.

      Hmm...

Dude, you have me confused with someone else. "Jump" the holy grail? No. I'm one of the few fans who like 1984 the least of the 6 albums. Still, Dave's version of "Jump" a few days back was better than anything Van Hagar has done since its inception.

I do remember the look of horror on my mom's face in 1983 when she walked into the room and saw her 12 year old son jumping around the room, thrashing about while the words "RUNNIN WITH THE DEVIL" came blasting from the speakers. I also remember, years later, hearing her hum the melody to "How Will I Know When It's Love" while washing dishes. That about sums it up for you.

Cabo Wabo SHAKA DUBIE WUBIE DUBIE
Shaka dubie lookie wubie is a dubie SHAKA DUBIE.

Howard Stern- "So Sammy what is the first song you are going to play"?

                    Sammy Hagar- "SHAKA DUBIE"

                    (Howard Stern and Staff just laughing their asses off and Dave said Shaka Dubie and just laughed}
                    (FUCKIN CLASSIC MOMENT)

Howard Stern-"So Dave what song are you going to play first"?

                    Dave- "HOT FOR TEACHER"

(Howard Stern and the Staff go crazy)

And the kicker is Sammy did not play Shacka Dubie as his first song on that tour. I guess someone told him that its not a really good song to play as an opening song. LOL

Yes I am serious about this. He may want the vault to be opened, but that is not putting anything new out on the market. That is releasing old stuff. Stringing us along.... here is just a little nibble...dangling the carrot.

Not even remotely fucking close. Dio w/Sabbath was still a hard rock band. VERY different from the real Black Sabbath (and forced by WB to keep the name, just as Eddie was). But they never released anything as remotely pathetic as "Some kind of alien reaches up my ass and pulls a string and Cheese comes walking in".

Van Hagar doesn't equal Dio Sabbath. Even the Phil Collins fronted Genesis remained more faithful to the original than Van Hagar.

The Foreigner clone that was the Joe Lynn Turner - fronted Rainbow would be a better comparison. And as a Dio fan, you know what I mean by that.
