That's what I was saying. It just sounds really monotone / flat. It doesn't groove or stick in your head. You can't really tap along or sing along because it just isn't there. Just plain dead. Weird song.

Didn't Metallica cover a Budgie tune? I swear they did, but just can't think of it right now.

Wasn't it on Garage Days Re-Revisited? Was it "Crash Course in Brain Surgery?"

AHA! Good man. I like that song (Metallicas version anyways). I liked that whole Garage Days album. Fun little sloppy album to hold the fans over until an album proper could be put out. Now why can't Van Halen slap together a 4 or 5 song EP to hold us until we get the real deal? Laziness & fighting egos...that's why. In other words...EDDIE DID IT!

The hapless DJ was fired later in the day. Too bad that wasn't the case in your area.

Just going off your own ear, or have there actually been rumblings & rumors of this out there? A good cover up like this has Ford written all over it. I loves da juicy gossip. Plus Axl is a horses ass.

Speaking of the song Amsterdam, that has to be one of the worst Van Hagar tunes and that really is saying a lot. "Wham Bam....Amsterdam.....Yeah, Yeah, Yeah.."
My god, that was the first time i had ever heard that tune. I heard Balance sucked but no one really prepared me for that nonsense. You guys had better have my back better than this in the future.

I have heard rumors that the original GnR EP "Live Like A Suicide" which was re-packaged as part of the "Lies" album wasn't really all that live. Not really sure though.... I've heard both live recordings and studio demos from that era and it sounds more like the live stuff to me. It's a good thing that they didn't try to pass the acoustic shit off as live though, because I have an acoustic boot from that era and those songs like "patience" sound NOTHING like the record, so mixing a crowd into that would have never fooled anybody.

Now on the other hand, the most blatantly false "live recording" I ever heard has to be this one.........

The rest of the album was a legitimate live show, but those two songs? Fake as fuck. Shame on you, Mick.

To me Balance is the best guitar of that era. That sound with Me Wise and Can't Get. If VH gets into that groove with the Diamond One and we got ourselves a winner.

The last Van Hagar song, "Humans Being" had a really pissed off guitar tone to it. Might have been a decent song with Dave singing, but as usual the Ched Rocker fucked it all up with his stupid lyrics. Especially the Lennon rip off chorus.

Who writes a bunch of angry verses and then has a pussy chorus like "shine on shine on"?? Well at least he didn't say "like the moon and the stars and the sun". That would have been more blatant than when he ripped off Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down" for that song on FUCK with the plagarized "Jump" riff.
