I know the poster you are talking about. Close up, Ed and Dave, 24x36. I saw it in a head shop in O.B., San Diego back in 1990 or sometime. I don't know why I did not buy it because I kicked myself later. But the internet is an amazing thing. Advent of Ebay... I found that poster, it was pricey, but when I see it again, I'm buying.

Hell yeah, don't remember what they were called but they were like painters' hats with two flaps in the back. You see them at the end of the Panama video - both Dave and Al have them on. Back in the day I had a Van Halen one and a Def Leppard one. Anybody remember the versions of these hats that had snaps on the flaps so you could like roll up the flaps and snap 'em onto the hat? Kinda like a convertible top for the back of your head

I had to go take my cover off just to see. For a second there, I thought maybe you had a specially autographed one from Zlozower being black like that.

They looked like French Foreign Legion hats to me.

EXACTLY! Those are the ones I'm talking about. You could get a solid color, or a band name one from the local music store / head shop.

I keep thinking Safari Hat or Panama hat...even Desert Hat. But all I can find are Dr. Livingstone type lids.

Ah, the good old days. Back in '85 I used to work part-time at Happy T Shirt in the local mall and we had plain hats like this that we could put just about any band logo on - and we had heat transfers for just about all of them. I finally found some photos of a Van Halen one from some website, flaps and all. Sorry for the bad quality of the pics.

                  HAHAHAHA! EXCELLENT FIND!

That is exactly the hat. Man, those were everywhere in the early 80's. One of those forgotten nostalgia items.

The ones i had were actually made by Vans because they had the checker board on top of the hat just like the shoes. Very cool find.

That's the one !! I picked it up about 3 years ago at a record show for $50 bucks. In very good shape. Framed it. There must be a few more around I would think. It's the coolest VH poster ever. People do just toss shit that old I guess.

And if your personal VH collection just wouldn’t be complete without a two-flap painter’s hat uswings.com has them for 15 bucks. Then you’d just need the VH iron-on transfers – or you could wait until Eddie starts selling striped versions of ‘em
