I know the poster you are talking about. Close up, Ed and Dave, 24x36. I saw it in a head shop in O.B., San Diego back in 1990 or sometime. I don't know why I did not buy it because I kicked myself later. But the internet is an amazing thing. Advent of Ebay... I found that poster, it was pricey, but when I see it again, I'm buying.
Some new mail arrivals, and pictures of my collection.

Anyone remember the hats that had the two flaps in the back that covered your neck? Looked like something you would wear in the Arabian desert. All the rockers in the early 80's had one. For the life of me I can't remember the name of them or I'd start searching them on ebay.American by birth. Southern by the grace of God.

I had to go take my cover off just to see. For a second there, I thought maybe you had a specially autographed one from Zlozower being black like that.

Hell yeah, don't remember what they were called but they were like painters' hats with two flaps in the back. You see them at the end of the Panama video - both Dave and Al have them on. Back in the day I had a Van Halen one and a Def Leppard one. Anybody remember the versions of these hats that had snaps on the flaps so you could like roll up the flaps and snap 'em onto the hat? Kinda like a convertible top for the back of your head
EXACTLY! Those are the ones I'm talking about. You could get a solid color, or a band name one from the local music store / head shop.
I keep thinking Safari Hat or Panama hat...even Desert Hat. But all I can find are Dr. Livingstone type lids.“Great losses often bring only a numb shock. To truly plunge a victim into misery, you must overwhelm him with many small sufferings.”Comment

If I find some initiative, I'll take some pics of my stuff.... Got a bunch of buttons as well, a product of the flea markets at the San Diego Sports Arena parking lot on the weekends in '84.....Eat Us And Smile - The Originals

Ah, the good old days. Back in '85 I used to work part-time at Happy T Shirt in the local mall and we had plain hats like this that we could put just about any band logo on - and we had heat transfers for just about all of them. I finally found some photos of a Van Halen one from some website, flaps and all. Sorry for the bad quality of the pics.
HAHAHAHA! EXCELLENT FIND!
That is exactly the hat. Man, those were everywhere in the early 80's. One of those forgotten nostalgia items.“Great losses often bring only a numb shock. To truly plunge a victim into misery, you must overwhelm him with many small sufferings.”Comment

And if your personal VH collection just wouldn’t be complete without a two-flap painter’s hat uswings.com has them for 15 bucks. Then you’d just need the VH iron-on transfers – or you could wait until Eddie starts selling striped versions of ‘em
