Bon Scott was the ultimate AC/DC singer to me. The man was just super-talented. I love his lyrics and work...it was always fresh.

I can't say I like Brian Johnson as much, but I think the guy is a class act. I always loved the BACK IN BLACK and BALLBREAKER albums, but after finally picking up FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROCK last weekend, I have to agree that the band did amazing work with Brian too.

The thing is, though, he is everything Hagar should have been. Johnson just never missed a chance at praising Bon. Hagar, however, preferred to enter the biggest band in the world at the time and trash the singer everybody loves. In the process, so many fans (including all of us here) just threw our noses in the air and said, "Excuse me, you blonde freak, but just which band do you think you're joining?" The man is an asshole. To act like six of the biggest-selling hard rock albums never existed is ridiculous. Seriously. Hagar would probably have liked all six albums to go out-of-print. And look at how he never gets tired of bitching about the songs there. The man actually thinks LOVE WALKS IN is a far superior piece of work to ROMEO DELIGHT. Moron. Meanwhile, Johnson plays everything...and I mean everything...from the original line-up. Johnson had total respect for the band's legacy. He's sang everything from DOG EAT DOG to HIGH VOLTAGE to GIRL'S GOT RHYTHM to JAILBREAK. I love Brian Johnson just for his attitude. I don't think he's the talent that Bon was, but he's still great. LET'S GET IT UP, ROCK 'N' ROLL AIN'T NOISE POLLUTION and HONEY ROLL, for instance, are all great AC/DC classics.

This all just proves what a piece of shit Sammy Hagar is.

Hey babe, I really liked "If You Want Blood". Thanks to you

I just went searching through my years and years worth of

records and found shit I don't even remember.

Does anyone know what this is?

Panamrak is absolutely right, the early Bon AC/Dc stuff is actually alot more varied than some of the latter Brian-era stuff.
Bon had a sense of humour in his lyrics that was a little more sophisticated than some of the latter writing.
But regardless, they are a very good band and IMO were a GREAT band with Bon. Ever check out the concert film "LET THERE BE ROCK"? It's absolutley great, stripped down straight ahead rock and roll. No giant inflatables etc...just the guys on stage rockin' out.

Always felt that Malcolm has been very underappreciated over the years. He really keeps the music together live. And Phil Rudd is great fun to watch!

Speaking of the mighty 'DC....does anyone know of any sites that (like this one) allow members to download live material? I've got all of AC/DC's CDs (both Australian and North American pressings!) but no bootlegs....seems like I should try and correct that!

          LONG LIVE BON SCOTT!!!

            Fab Shadow,

I think the best Bon-era AC/DC release to start with would be "HIGHWAY TO HELL" Bon's last with the band.
It is just an excellant hard rock album with very strong production. The songs are top-notch and the band sounds great..

The live album "IF YOU WANT BLOOD" is an absolute stunner. One of my top ten live albums of all time. Great stuff.

After that? Well, you'll be hooked and will want to grab it all but "DIRTY DEEDS DONE DIRT CHEAP" would probably be my recommendation.
            I love them all!

Methinks you havent listened to their original six albums. You listen to songs like, Ride on, She's got the Jack, Big Balls, Can I sit next to you girl, Let there be Rock, Hell aint a bad place to be. Thats straight off the top of my head and no two of those songs are the same.

Everybit as much variation as Van Halen..

I agree there was stage later with Brian where they released several very similar sounding albums in a row, but you cant generalize and say their whole catalog was like that. If you do, you havent heard it.

                Back in Black
                Hells Bells
                Shook it all Night Long
                Who Made Who
                Thunderstruck
and that newer one New York something....All sound the same to me.... They are all good songs, no doubt, but TO ME they run into each other like every song off of OU812 or BALANCE...Know what I mean. I like Bon Scott ten times better than Brian, and I also liked Angus Youngs guitar riffs when Bon was leading. Too much distortion afetr Hells Bells. Thats when it went to shit for me.

Highway to Hell, Powerage, Let there be Rock. Check out the live AC/DC dvd LET THERE BE ROCK. Bon at his best. You can't go wrong with AC/DC. They always put 100% into there live shows. Their the type of band how made their reputation by playing live.

Yeah, I agree they are always giving 110%, but so do the Stones and they are the shits in my book, but Keith and Jagger on stage is fucking so cool to see when you know at any moment one of them is either gonna collapse from a heart-attack or OD live in front of you. :D
Ac/Dc is better than Kiss for me and a few steps short of VH classic. Black Sabbath and Crue is pretty high on my fav's list. Mettalica and Megadeth is shit. I go for classic stuff like Zep and ZZ Top or priest. Yeah..... give me some priest!

Metallica blew everybody off the stage at the MOnsters of rock back in '88, including Van Hagar! Still debating about seeing Priest at Oz fest. Seen 'em twice back in the day. Sure, Halford is a pole smoker, but he is the most Evil gay man alive. It was UNFUCKINGBELIEVABLE how he could hit the high notes live. AC/DC live is like a fucking wrecking ball. Gov't Mule is great for those wanting to check out a JAM band. Velvet Revolver rocked the State theatre in Detroit. Too bad that Wieland is a dope fiend. Going to Chicago in January to see Buddy Guy at his club LEgends is well worth the trip and I highly recomend it to any guitarist in the ROTH ARMY!

I always liked them. They didn't need distortion to be raunchy. It came right through the pick attack and the fingers.
