EVH ‘Nervous’ About Band’s upcoming Album

So Edweirdo is nervous about this new record --- is that a "good nervous" or "bad nervous" ??

Good nervous means his guitar is acting like a ferocious beast again, ready to slay people after being in hibernation for 27 fuckin' years.

Bad nervous means he finally realizes he can't come up with epic riffs unless he's smashed on Schlitz, or maybe Wolfie sounds like a toad on the backing vocals.

Ed's nervous because of past failures (VH3), trying to live up to the groundbreaking stuff he did when he was younger and doing all that while trying to stay sober. Not an easy task.

I don't envy him.

My 2 cents: He's nervous about Dave's vocals and possibly some lame riffage he's come up with for the album.

Guess Idol was trying to throw his hat in the ring as vocalist for VH when things were still in flux. Creativity has an arc to it, Ed is way past his apex on said arc, sure he is nervous. Does anyone think Jimmy Page could put something out now close to Zep IV? Plant has all but admitted he can't do justice to Zepplin anymore, so he took the classy way out not wanting to sully the past. Dave is trying to make up for the biggest mistake of his life but has nothing to lose in doing so and no other options as his solo foibles proved. AND, one has to wonder if a new album heavy on tapping and whammy dives is going to sound dated. There are only so many variations of "Eruption"........

Funny, that's kind of what's been missing from rock guitar in the past decade or so...y'know, the ability to play one's way out of a paper bag...I can count on one hand the guitar players who could carry Ed's jock since the 90s.

And I agree with VAIN - anything with DLR and EVH will most likely be cool.

True, but I'm not really expecting "Bottom's Up 2011" from them, know what I mean? I have a feeling it'll be somewhat "reinvented" but still well in the vein of classic VH.
