I can't see Mike coming back with Wolfie making five. Still not the original lineup - also just weird.

    Oh dear.

I was saying that to myself in '96 right after the fallout from the MTV fiasco. With the insane money they could've made from a reunion tour that year, each band member could afford his own Boeing Dreamliner haulin' their asses from city to city. How hard is it to fake a few smiles and tolerate each other onstage every night for a few months? Everyone's happy ---- fat checks in the mail ---- hookers & blow waiting on the planes. What a miserable life.

Instead, we had to wait 11 years for Eddie's cash flow to dry up before he grew a fuckin' brain.

Maybe they can fake it to a point playing live, but it still comes across as something missing. On the "reunion" they could have gone out there with kazoos and the crowds would still have gone crazy, so it didn't matter if they were lacking. however, chemistry is needed in the studio if the music is to be good. Having Ed send the music to Dave along with the melody with a note that says "sing words to this" doesn't bode well for anything stellar. Again the novelty factor, this time new music with Roth, will be a saving grace.

All depends how you define "chemistry". The turds were quite chummy for most of the Hagar years, but the music stunk like a used douche nozzle.

Dave and Eddie hated each other so much they couldnt even give an interview together during the glory years --- but the music was brilliant. If I hear those guys aren't getting along right now and it's coming out in the music, I'm stoked like a muddafucka.

My 3/4 original, 1/4 inevitable looks a little something like this. Reverend neck brace, who can still play but no longer packs a wallop on the skins, voluntarily passes the torch to his nephew. I do recall reading a Guitar World interview with Wolf where by he mentions drums are his strong point. He appeared quite comfortable behind the kit when he hopped up on stage with one of those bands whose name I don't bother remembering. Such a move would make room for Mike "waitaminute. How many bands can I be in at once?" Anthony's much longed for return. Rick's son Dax playing drums for Cheap Trick goes down easy 'cause it's something they all agreed on. That band could teach our boys a much needed lesson in morality.

Unfortunately, what we want and what we may, MAAAAYY get some day, stand virtually no chance of being one in the same. Safest bet is to take whatever we get for whatever it is and just hope it's as timeless sounding as what we've heard between the 1974 Cherokee Studios demo through 1984. (yeah, I know Mike wasn't there in '74, but I freakin' love Believe Me and Angel Eyes)

Everybody would like to see the original four walk out on the fucking stage together, get their shit together, and regain control and domination of the rock scene for the entire planet (which they would).

To me Van Halen is Dave, Eddie, Alex, and Mike and that shit's never going to change. There's a small part of me that will not be able to let go of the fact that as I stand there watching them during the [insert tour name here] Tour in 20(xx) that it's not the original recipe. No disrespect to Wolf, but he's not the original and never will be.

The die-hards like me (us) are dying off, and fuck I'm only 40. The real salty fucks who saw these guys in their hayday will be showing up with walkers here pretty soon. Maybe their thinking in keeping the kid in the band is that he'll draw a younger audience or something? Maybe but I don't see it because I got 20-year old neices and nephews that could give a fuck less.

The way I see it, if I were Wolf, I'd have the respect to realize I'm not one of the originals and I'd sit spEd down and say "Hey pops, this is stupid. Call Mike up and do that shit for the fans. I've got my own music and my own identity, and it ain't Van Halen."

I think they're passing the kid a torch he doesn't really wanna carry. Then again, who knows.

Bring Mike back for fuck's sake. Please.

Think it was Alter Bridge (a.k.a. Creed without the asshole singer) Eddie himself started out on the drums. Guess it's not all that surprising that his kid would also take them up. Wolfie replacing Uncle Al with Mike back in the ranks? I could live with that.

You're expecting someone with the last name of Van Halen to place integrity and respect for the fanbase before money and nepotism? I'd love to see it, but I expect to be shitting gold nuggets before that happens!

As long as it's Dave and Ed onstage together playing the old tunes and hopefully some good new shit, I'll take that over nothing at all.

I am surprised to read that.
Wow! I would be more shocked if a drummer was changed out than a base player. The drums are like the heart beat of a Rock band.

True, but in this case, Wolf has a better shot at filling the drum slot than the cannon mouth bass player one. Most certainly, my proposed version of VH will never happen, nor will the original 4 ever get back together again. Failure is not an option VH. Make it a good one.

Sammy says, Mike A. is not allowed to attend the Grammy's!

                                Source:
Jed Gottlieb is the Northeast's preeminent David Lee Roth scholar... and more! He's also a Herald music reporter and feature writer.
Many speculated that Sammy or bassist Michael Anthony might be involved with the Nov. 30 TV concert announcing the 2012 nominees. But that won’t happen Hagar tells Rolling Stone:

“If Van Halen play, it will be Dave [David Lee Roth], Eddie [Van Halen], Alex [Van Halen], and Wolfie [Wolfgang Van Halen], his kid – it wouldn’t be Mike [Anthony] and I. First of all, we wouldn’t be invited and second of all, if we were invited, we probably wouldn’t do it. If Eddie is in the same condition he was the last time I saw him, I don’t want to step onstage with him.”

                                So that’s that.

As for Van Halen playing the Grammy concert, I say great if we get a new song. As a fan I’d be happy to hear “Panama” but we’ve waited long enough. Let’s hear something from the mythical new album.

For a guy that says he has a new band, Sammy sure does talk alot a smack about Van Halen..Sammy get a clue and let it go..you become a psychotic ex girlfriend every time you give a interview..
