Yep - us included. They were shockingly good, not like I walked in expecting to be disappointed! Plus the vibe was soooo cool - they were having a blast and it showed. Wolf and Al have great chemistry, it was great being close enough to see them giving each other cues and grinning at each other every time one of them did something cool. Eddie was ripping, the crowd was eating out of Dave's hand - and what's the big deal about the wardrobe? Looked cool in person, and it's stuff he's worn before...cooler than the overalls IMO.
Ross Hogarth is cool as shit too..he's a fan like us, and revels at working with them. And (barring accidents) they're not done, folks...this is just the beginning!

Wolfgang looks like a well nourished Randy Orton. Good to see him getting lots of screen time.

Ed's outro at the end of "Tattoo" gives me goose bumps. Sounds like "Cathedral" or some shit.

The song's a fucking monster live. Turn that shit up to 11.

Jeff with a nice writeup and pics at VHND:

The magic of Tinseltown got a little brighter last night when the Mighty Van Halen emerged to hold their top secret "Album Release Celebration." The initial plans to host a short Tuesday morning press conference transformed into a Wednesday night record release party and private showcase. This spectacular event was held at the famous Henson Studios in Hollywood California.

Hey it's show business, doesn't bother me. It's funny he had such a different look for NYC and LA. Maybe he's going to do a costume theme depending on where he is...
That's more the point I was stressing. Yes, it's Dave's show biz thing and his extremes which for the most part works for what we know as Van Halen and his solo work. My observation was the two worlds colliding didn't fit... You got balls to the walls heavy rock blasting and the singer is doing pirouettes like he's on Dancing with the Stars and prancing around like he's fucking Tinkerbell... add the wardrobe choice and if that floats your boat... have at it cowboy. It just ain't my preferred style of rodeo...

which is fun...but since the album is all over the place now and the most outstanding thing in the last 28 years one would think it shouldn't be moved that fast...

I guess it was overshadowing the more important threads...

I think you should put the CD on from the beginning and restart the thread from scratch !!
