Back to the album review... fuck y'all who want to even bring up Hagar in this thread!!!

I'm not finding the Walmart version censored in any way. There wasn't much for anyone to get worked up about to begin with.

4th listen thru... Stay Frosty is still sitting at my number 1 followed by China Town and Beats Workin...

Had to go with headphones due to work... ears are starting to ring slightly.

I have just arrived back at home after driving around the backroads and hinterlands of Milwaukee listening to the New MIGHTY VAN HALEN CD A DIFFERENT KIND OF TRUTH

usually I'm rather pithy on the boards...let the hoi polloi have the glory....but today the spirit has moved me....

I woke up this morning (without waking the Mrs, always a smart move) and downloaded ADKOT at apprx 1oam Central time...watched a bit of the video for Beautiful Girls....cool, yet still strange seeing our heros at this age....but I passed on listening to the record (ha! "record") because I had plans for NATIONAL VAN HALEN DAY.....plans oh so long in the making....half dreamed aboot for ages....hatched back during the Reagan addmn....always hoping to be set in motion....kinda like the SLEEPERS in that old Captain America cartoon.........



So I set off this morn....no "Super Wally Worlds" near me...which is a good thing because I buy local & don't feel the need to have any more goods from China coated in "extra" lead in the home....so out to the "sticks"...otherwise known as the 'burbs in search of the MIGHTY VAN HALEN...

Again...after downloading the DELUXE version last night....I was torn on purchasing anything but the normal version....have the DVD portion...don't really need the shirt...still, I checked a Wally World...DAMN YOU SAM WALTON...and no, they had no Boxed Version...HELL THEY HAD NOTHING...making me happy that I hate them in the 1st place....

So...BEST BUY...grabbed the "discount" version....and so it began....

You see...the LAST recording by anybody named von Halen that I purchased upon the day of its release was....*GASP* 5150.....I know, I know....shameful....

1986 Brighton MICHIGAN...the Brighton Mall...MUSIC BOX to be specific....driving my parents 1985 Cutlass Ciera...4 door Burgandy....tape deck....

Anywhoo...put the cassette in...and from the "HELLO BAY-BEE!!" my heart sank to my feet...this was NOT VAN HALEN....this was as if some retarded Frat boy had taken over the helm of the GREATEST AMERICAN HARD ROCK BAND OF ALL TIME and turned them into a fucking joke....

Well...today put everything right in my UNIVERSE........

I drove around and listened to ADKOT Twice thru....just to bask in the fucking POWER and UNMATCHED GLORY of the MIGHTY VAN HALEN.......

I know I'm in the minority when I say how much I dig TATTOO...but I do think, after hearing the rest of the CD, that it was the right choice for 1st single.....

this FUCKING CD has a bunch of potential "singles"...if thats the route they wanna go.....

I know I heard EDDIE step on a whammy pedal on one track (Okay....who else heard it???)

Nice DAVE WAR WHOOP late in the CD....just to let the fucking haters & piss-ant SHEEP know that he still can.......

and...is it just me....but do I sense a direct AC/DC vibe on a few tunes here? I know how much EDDIE loves BON SCOTT era AC/DC...I hear some HIGHWAY TO HELL era like songs on ADKOT....the "boogie woogie" style stuff BON excelled at....again, who else hears it?

I'm still shell-shocked at how KICK ASS this cd is......

got my cd at walmart at 12am, couldnt wait. got the deluxe version, opened it up had no dvd, just a shirt, kewl shirt, but really wanted the dvd

Yeah seen there was diffrent offers u could get , we couldn't get the shirt one in the uk ... The DVD cool tho it has that laid back feel with Dave being Dave ... Makes u wanna smile .. What more can u ask
