This CD really is "the killing side of Van Halen".
Unfortunately, this CD is another casualty of the 'Loudness Wars' where the mastering sacrifices dynamics for brickwalled volume... let me control the volume...
Looking forward to hearing this on vinyl.Comment

I know this is a great LP, A Different Kind of Truth is a instant classic and with such lps, the only justice is to listen to it because words are completely unable to sum it up. It is like trying to describe a painting with words, no matter how good you do it, it is an epic fail compared to what it really looks like. Currently on itunes, ADKOT is the number 2 downloaded lp and the deluxe version is the number 5 downloaded lp. That is not the rock genre chart, but in all genres included...2 & 5 in the top ten. A lot of people are reviewing it the way it should be done, they are listening to it and liking it.I got lost in the...Comment

Interesting that one of my favorite songs on the CD, opposed to what some have mentioned on here about it, is "honiebabysweetiedoll". It blew my mind. Me, a 42 year old friggin man, was moshing with my dog in my living room to it. (My dog is a 180 pound Dane, and Van Halen fan too). To me, that song had Wolfie influence. I could almost see him coming to rehearsal after listening to some old Godsmack or something new, progressive, heavy, and saying "lets try this.....". If they can get somee radio play of that song, the youngsters could get into it. I can see an old VH fan listening to that song with his son, and both getting it. Eddie played with a fury that I haven't seen since, well, the Dave days. Plain and simple, Dave is the testicles to the crotch that is Van Halen. Its all very clear now.......Sammy was an employee. Dave is family.Comment

I feared Dave would be too grinny and giddy to tone it down so as not to embarass himself by yelping and goofing off all over the new album. I was very happy to hear that he allowed himself to sound more mature, without being boring. I mean, his singing really sounded pretty good, and was mixed very, very well.Comment
