If you don't love every track on ADKOT, you're WRONG. I only skip Tattoo sometimes because I played it all day every day for a month before the fill album came out, but after a month of listening to ADKOT, I actually thought to myself that some of the songs are too short, seems like the album runs through faster and faster now, just keeps getting better and better.Scramby eggs and bacon.Comment

I m noticing 2 really huge omissions from this Van Halen album when compared to the 6-pack.
1 - No signature Alex drum riff. IE Jamies Cryin', Hot For Teacher, Dance The Night Away intro, Everybody Wants Some intro. Alex is laying down some of the best drumming I have ever heard, especially in As Is. But the album is lacking that one memorable drum riff that really stands out.
2 - No signature/memorable EVH guitar riff. IE Aint Talkin' 'Bout Love, Unchained, Mean Street, Little Dreamer, Dance The Night Away intro, Beautiful Girls intro, Panama intro (and slow break in middle). There just aren't any on this album. Fucking top notch guitar playing throughout.....but again, lacking that 1 beginning song riff that makes the hairs on your neck stand at attention.
Nitpicking I know. I fucking LOVE this album. Just pointing out a couple of things that really were signature stuff from the earlier albums and their lack of inclusion on this album.Comment

I agree. For a Van Hagar era tune it's not bad on an instrumental level. And I like the solo although it probably needed something more venomous. But yeah...Hagar ruined any chance it had with his banal lyrics and annoying screaching vocals. Not bad when compared with the rest of the Hagar era, but vastly inferior to anything on ADKOT and obviously the six-pack.Comment

This is a great album !! I call it the double album because its so long for Dave VH. The six pack is classic. Even the stuff I dont love. One Foot Out The Door bores me at the end of maybe their greatest album. The way to many covers on Diver Down. Dancing In The Streets is stupid. But I still listen to it because the music is cool. The only thing I don't love about the new CD is the mix on some songs and I wish Bullithead was just a little more intense like the original demo !! I'm still happy it's on there though. 6 or 7 of the new songs are instant classics to me even if they never hit the radio like the old stuff. As Is is fucking amazing to me & HoneyBaby is right behind it.Comment

To have ADKOT as an actual CD, that we are looking at and listening to, is nothing short of a miracle here. When Jay was little, and I mean LITTLE, I never thought this would happen! I even have video of him listening to/ playing along with that VH/Cherone video (all that ice..I dont even remember the name of it!) because thats what VH was at that point! HA! To me, the sign of a great album/ CD is that, when listening to it, you keep saying, 'THIS is my favorite tune', with most of the tunes on the CD...and Ive done that with ADKOT.
Ugh...sorry to bring up that Cherone/ Ice thing.......livin in the online VH world for 19 years....thanks to a 2 year old.....:DComment

Not a review, but I don't know where else to put it. I flew back to Italy after the Rosemont show with Lufthansa. ADKOT was one of the featured albums on their "in-flight entertainment system" with a foto of the album cover in the Lufthansa magazine and a 1984-era foto of the band was the featured foto for the classic rock music channel on the plane. Nice to know they are not forgotten in Europe, Germany at least.Comment
