Eat Us And Smile - The Originals
"I have a very belligerent enthusiasm or an enthusiastic belligerence. I’m an intellectual slut." - David Lee Roth
"We are part of the, not just the culture, but the geography. Van Halen music goes along with like fries with the burger." - David Lee Roth -
Well, those recent Ed, Al and Dave clips talking about the past(ure) Ed sounds ok to me. I think they've all agreed on letting the music doing the talking with a Dave interview here and there. Shit, the VHs are reveling in how great it once again must feel to not have to do any talking. I don't think Ed's even done a guitar mag in quite some time, which is odd considering how much new product he has to push.Comment

That's a good call! I don't blame the band at all for telling Rolling Stone to fuck off! During the bands heyday, Van Halen was the biggest hard rock band in the world, bar none, and with absolutely NO thanks to that rag. Aside from an occasional asinine comment here and there, they wanted nothing to do with the band.
They didn't offer Dave a cover until '85 when he went solo, and they didn't do a cover story on the band until '86 when they had the fat queer.
Now....after all this time, Rolling Stone is suddenly all over Van Halen's nuts because they're dominating the charts with this new album, and they're desperately trying to save themselves from journalistic obscurity.
Too fucking late! Not even the Mighty Van Halen can save them from being the most irrelevant piece of shit on the magazine rack.
Fuck You, Rolling Stone!Comment

Ok, fuck'em, but still, check out the review in the new issue with Paul McCartney on the cover. They not only give an excellent review, they side with the fans who've longed for what we now have. I firmly believe Fatty paid them to run that article on his shitty fucking book a year ago.Comment

Bottom line is....they were never around when they could've been of service to the band. Van Halen made it without them, and they certainly don't need them now. Maybe they could find something else to fill their pages, like coming up with another of their idiotic fucking lists.
Fuck 'em, indeed!Comment

Yes, good memory. When Dave left VH, it was RS who gave Van Hagar a big article slamming Dave. They never gave Dave equal space. I also remember them slamming Skyscraper and giving OU812 major thumbs up and giving Van Shitgar the cover with the "Monster" eyes. Fuck them...
All these critics were anti-Dave when he was in the band. Now, they are all like admitting Van Hagar sucked and Classic VH rules.Comment

The best part is that, on the cover, the name Van Halen is written four times larger than Sammy's. The cover is where they lure their audience. Never would they try to sell a magazine on the premise that he merely had a memoir out. They sold the story like this: My life in the most depraved band, Van Halen by ...Comment
